Asking for my buddy. He has a PCC which is some sort of AK looking thing and wants a red dot. He’s more of a put the dot on it and empty 30rds type shooter. I told him Sig Romeo seems nice. What do you guys suggest?

Does he have a price point? I am running a Trijicon SRO on my CMMG PPC for home defense, but they may be more than he wants to spend. There are many options, has he given you any ideas to help narrow it down?

UltraDot's have been around for a while, good optic with a solid reputation.

Never heard of them…worth a look.

I do like Swampfox a lot and put a Liberator on my PCC. I like it a lot.
I recently tried one on my BFR .500 S&W Magnum revolver at their recommendation. 50 yards with Iron sites and now 100 yards with the red dot at 5"-6" groups.

$200-225. Now he’s saying he wants to be able to make accurate hits on 12” targets out to 100yards but its a scorpion rifle so doubt that is possible. I told him get a 1-6 scope then.

For that type of shooter? Why waste money he could be spending on more cases of ammo. Bubble pack $50 Tru-Glo would be just fine for him.....
wants to make accurate hits with a scorpion rifle at 100yard on a 12x12 plate. We call him ammo waster cause its always mag dumps.

Well, I have a Ruger PC Carbine in 9mm and I have a Bushnell TRS-25 installed. Inexpensive sight, but built very tough.

I also have a WASR-10 with the same sight installed. I bought the mount that attaches to the side of the WASR with a rail for the sight. My eyes are getting old and it’s often hard to clearly see the sights, hence the TRS-25. I can slide the mount/sight on or off the rifle in seconds.

Ask him if he has an astigmatism in his dominant eye.

If so, you may want to steer him towards a prism based sight. Very helpful to the atigmatism challenged like myself. Keeps the dot from blooming, blurring, or smearing.

I swapped out my Sig Romeo 5s for Vortex Spitfire Prisms for this reason. Never looked back.

If I were to do it over, I would look hard at Primary Arms prism offerings.

I started out with a 2nd gen Bushnell TRS-25 on my Beretta CX4 and have used it from 10 yards out to 100 yards. The 2 moa dot works well.

Then I changed to a Vortex Defender on the CX4 with a 3 moa dot. It works well for the same ranges with a better forward view. The Defender actually comes with a picatinny rail mount, where other micro red dots usually don't include a picatinny mount anymore.

For carbine use, I also have a Ultradot Gen 2 25mm with a 2 moa dot. It's better than a 3rd gen Bushnell TRS-25, which is the current generation. The currently made Bushnell TRS-25s aren't quite as good as the older versions, but are still fine for plinking and blasting.

That maybe his issue because he brought that up. He said he sees like a starburst. He said its not a dot to him. Would the astigmatism also cause the inside to flare red? I looked through the Romeo 5x II tonight and it had a red halo and washed everything out.

Have a Bushnell TRS-25 on mine.
Solid RDS, works great on PCC
Best bang for your dollar.
Many Chinese copies of it
Lots of torture tests on YouTube.

Our top PCC shooter for Steel Challenge matches uses a C-More Railway on his gun. The field of view is very good and for speed you can use anything from a 2 - 16 MOA dot. Just replace the diodes.

I've had C-Mores for years and although they are old technology they work and have a great reputations.

Here's mine on my new 10-22 build which would be similar to a 9 mm PCC gun.

If he's just mag dumping into trash, then just get a Sig Romeo for around $150ish and call it a day.
