...On the legal front. I've been wondering.

We all know what a class 1 firearm is (the kind you can walk into your local Gun Store and just buy) and what a class 3 firearm is (the kind that is expensive and requires a 200 dollar tax stamp) but what the spork is a class 2 firearm? Google fails me.

Any firearm that requires a $200.00 tax stamp is considered ClassIII. I think any firearm that requires a $5.00 tax stamp is considered ClassII. AOWs require a $5.00 tax stamp. I'm not totally sure about the ClassII thing.

There is no such thing as a Class anything gun. The more correct terms are: Title 1 and Title 2.

Title 1 firearms are your standards: handguns, regular shotguns, regular rifles, etc.

Title 2 firearms are short shotguns, AOW's, short rifles, MG's, DD's, suppressors and anything else covered by the NFA

The confusion comes from the fact that a "Class 3" dealer is a regular firearms dealer that pays his Class 3 SOT so he can buy and sell NFA firearms without paying the transfer tax. A "Class 2" would be a manufacturer of firearms who has paid his Class 2 SOT so he can manufacture or buy/sell NFA firearms without paying the making or transfer tax.

SOT = Special Occupational Tax
NFA = National Firearms Act
AOW = Any Other Weapon
MG = Machine Gun
DD = Destructive Device
