I thought this may be helpful as there is a lot of confusion on Philippine arms, as to who makes what and such. BTW, I'm new so don't chastise me too much if I misplaced this PDA.

Pinoy...or the feminine Pinay...the origin of the word refers to a person of Filipino descent who has immigrated to America, and their different experiences. The slang usage is often used to refer to all people of Filipino descent.

I'm not Pinoy, I've only had this explained to me by friends...so I'd defer to PinoyInFL for any corrections

I have an Armscor M1600 .22 semi-auto rifle, kinda looks like an M16, it's a fun, accurate and very reliable little gun, prices tend to hover around $200 for one.

I had an armscor m1600 also. Great gun I miss, but was a pain to take apart and clean. Wish I had it back.

Here is my ATI military, made by Sporting Arms. It is a well made 45 that has replace my CZ75 for EDC. Over 1k rounds with no problems and eats anything you feed it.
Yes I am impressed.

I am still trying to figure out why guns are so expensive in the Philippines. When I was on Mindanao a Walther P22 was going for almost $1,000. Local manufacted weapons were cheaper, but stil 2-3x what they cost in the states.

I lived and worked in and around The P.I. in the late 60's and into the 70's. Marcos had declared Marshal Law and fire arms owner ship was officially severely restricted. I'm thinking now that the price of the domestic guns is probably high due to tax and licensing in an effort to restrict ownership. Just a guess based on 40+ year old experience.

You CAN still buy the M1600's as well as the ones that look like AK's, I think Centerfire carries them.

Google "Rock Island Armory." Pretty much unanimous praise for their 1911s. I know I've been VERY happy with my Tactical full size.

There are a couple other Phillipine manufacturers of 1911s and they all seem to have a solid rep.

I recently bought a Cimarron 1911, which is basically an Armscor that Cimarron imports the parts of, then spruces up a bit and has finished in Florida. I mostly bought this gun for its high-polished blued finish, and it old-school semi-WW1 era styling, but I was very delighted upon bringing it to the range! I've brought it shooting on three occasions now, and I've experienced no failures whatsoever in 350+ rounds. I put two mags of JHPs through it for kicks, and it cycled them flawlessly. I was also shooting playing cards at 40 feet no problem, sometimes one-handed! Very happy with the gun, though the finish I oh-so-desired has been a headache. The slide had permanent splatters on the side when I received the gun (found the best deal, NIB but much less than MSRP, and ordered it shipped to my FFL from another state). I consulted a gunsmith friend and started a thread on THR which all resulted in me sending the slide back to Florida for a strip and re-blue. They recieved it on Feb 24th, and I found it difficult to communicate with the finishing company so I've been in touch with Cimarron, and they called me back at the end of last week saying I'll have it by the end of this week

besides the finish screw-up, VERY happy with this gun, took these photos before I sent the slide away, I used the lighting to hide the flaws in the finish



In the following photos, the 'spots' seen on the gun, are actually a reflection of the leopard sheet that acts as a lampshade on my ceiling, this gun is mirror shiny.

I love my High Standard 1911. They're from the same factory as the Rock Island pistols. Mine works great, looks great, feels great.
