Philosophy: Weapons Light vs. Rule 2

Well then that's definitely a state by state thing, and I guess something to be aware of depending on where you live.

In VA in a "modern" home the "main" is inside the home, per code. The only thing on the outside of the house would be receptacles and the meter, which has a lock on it.

Gun lights have always had the same arguments, back and forth.
I used to say I would never have one on my guns. Now I do, because the new lights are so bright, that once you hit someone with a direct beam or strobe, they are blinded. I have tried it on myself in daylight and could not see anything but spots for almost 5 minutes.
If you just turn it on and point the light at the floor or ceiling, you will light up the entire room, as a few have already mentioned, no need to point the muzzle at the bad guy, until you are sure he is a bad guy.
But he will be blinded and you should be moving anyhow.
So even if he fires in the general direction of the flashing light, you are no longer there. By then you should have decided if it's a go or no go situation, and it whould be over.
Outside the house in complete darkness is another story, if you are going to light someone up, it's going to be trickier, because you really can't see what's behind the person to a satifactory degree, and depending on the light you are using. But it's better to have the option and never have to use it.
I still have several Tac lights along with my Glock with the TLR4 on it.
In the past I've decided against weapons mounted lights but you make some good points, George. I may have to give this decision another thought.

Firearm with a good sized LED Mag Light is the primary bedroom defense. As said before the Mag Light is also a formidable weapon by itself in trained hands IMHO.

Being an electrician here in Maine unless the AHJ says outside or it is a mobile home the disconnect it is inside 99.9% of the time. No one likes to come home to vandals turning off the power and loosing the contents of your refer/freezer or heat out and frozen pipes. Guess we still have a lick of common sense here.

I have the core of my residence illuminated with AC power that will auto switch over to DC inverter lighting during a power outage. The internal battery bank/system has been tested to keep key lights/heat on for 12 days/nights without solar recharge. Yes you have to come from bright light through a darkened hall to blacked out room to find me. Hope no one ever is stupid enough to break in.:scrutiny:
