Picked this up off the counter at Walmart

They've always sold guns at some of the WallyWorlds locally. They just added AR types to the standard shotgun and blue/brown guns.

They do order guns still in most places.
Quite the contrary @the STL City store in MO. The very talk of those 'evil' tools of war is futile. They will tell you we don't deal with firearms here verbatim. They have a limited selection of brick .22lr and 9mm behind the counter in locked cases--if purchased it must be paid for at that counter and they then actually escort you out of the store. It's a no-go for me for anything @Walmart as I consider that to be anti-2A (and I'm not interested in the reasoning). To each his own.

A new Walmart opened a few miles from my home a couple months ago. They don't sell any firearms, and I asked a manager why that is. He said they need to wait a period of time before they begin selling them, and they should be able to start in 2013. He also said its a possibility they'll begin having handguns available for order, like the Walmarts do in Alaska.

How different it is after crossing 1 river, I've seen the AR's at the st charles walmart (about 20min from STL for you non-missouri folks). I buy ammo all the time and even though most of it (excluding some shotgun shells) is in a locked case I can have an associated unlock it for me put it in my cart and continue shopping for as long as I want.

Indeed--I have seen firearms aplenty in Sullivan, MO as well as other rural MO. locations. But KC, STL, Columbia etc. it's unheard of. I am assuming it's the Walmart Policy across the board in all major U.S. urban cities be it STL, CHI, NY, LA, PHI etc with the exception of the Southern States...?

I think it's modern sporting rifle:
http://www.nssf.org/MSR/
Nice to see some store use it. People really should use the term (myself included) as I think it's an accurate and smart term the NSSF came up with. The more MSR's are looked at like shotguns, the better it is for everyone.

I wish I could find the mythical gun stores in PA that sell MSRs. I live in the South East part of PA. I have to figure the one across from Cabelas does, but I've never been in their before.

We have 2 local Walmarts. One has a rack of rifles and shotguns, the other does not. Both stock and sell ammo. I do purchase ammo at Walmart, mostly because Mosby Jr. is a cashier (working his way through college) and I get an additional 10% discount.

I'm lucky in that I can get a colt 6920 ar-15, mags, targets, ammo, and EVERYTHING I need to reload for it ...at my local walmart. Anything firearm-related that walmart sells, my local walmart carries. AR-15's, Mini-14's, etc...RCBS presses, dies, powder scale, shellholders, powder, primers, etc....They even have a large catalogue that you can order long guns in from, that they don't carry...I can get a Ruger #1 ordered in, Weatherby's, Winchesters, etc....

I read that Wal Mart is the largest seller of guns and ammo in the United States.
I still don't shop there.

^^ Lol, after I did an analysis of Walmart I would agree with you, with the exception of the guns and ammo. Those are among some of the few things walmart sells that are actually still made in america, so you are still supporting american businesses by buying guns, ammo, and reloading supplies.
