The longer this therad gets the more intresting!
Wish I knew how to do the work to tune mine but it's best to let a pro do it soon as I can afford it.
Since I got my Model 10, I really did some reserch and the revolver has a very complicated history as faar as who has been issued them and where! Lots of good reading on the Net!
The Model 10 is an excellent revolver for either advanced or beginning shooters, it is very forgiving and lets you make a few mistakes and still makes you look good! The 4" is big enough to hold steady yet not overly heavy where weight overtakes the work you do learning to shoot it better.
I love my Model 36 but it's really hard to shoot well. (just learning DA shooting). The 10 works great for beginners.
I have shot S/a' all my life, learning D/A is really new for me!
I'm very happy with mine and I can see a long relationship for us!

Thanks, thanks a lot. I had kindof wanted one, but after seeing the pics of yours I had to go out and get one too. $249. Blue's not perfick, but I don't care cause it's just going to get the hell shot out of it. I got a Pachmayer T-grip ($3 compared to what they ask for old Tyler T-grips).

I read a interview once with a S&W factory Exectutive and he was asked about the best way to smooth up the action on their recovers. His reply was...

A lot.
The money spent on a gunsmith would most likely be better spent on ammunition. The action on your gun will get smoother while your marksmanship improves.

Glad I Picked Up Model 10's
If I had to pick my three most favorite handguns (which changes from time to time), I'd choose (now) : 1911, P-38, and S&W Model 10.
At the present I have two Model 10's. The Mrs. chose a 5" pencil barrel, and I have a 4" bull barrel Model 10-6.

Nice thread! I have one that was my Pa's and have shot it to death. You have a fine model ten there.
ZVP my brother had a 586 smith years ago that he wanted me to try out, he complained that it was rough and gritty. He was right. I asked if he minded if I could shoot it extensively, he said yes I could. So I had it for 4 months, in that time I shot it almost every day, making ammo as well every day. It was a good gun, when it was time to return it to him he could'nt believe how smooth it was from when he had last handled it. He asked what I had done to it, and I told him I shot it alot. They get better with time and shooting. I had a Ruger GP100 that was like that too. It was much smoother 3 to 4 thousand rounds later.

Are those Herretts Grips on A S&W Model 19, .357 Combat Magnum ?Been a few years since I have shown this one. Look real close.

Nope, they are/were made by Rogers. And they are on a S&W M10 chambered from the factory in 357 Magnum.
