Nah, they actually look pretty good. They match quite well, the grain pattern stands out a little more, and it looks like all the dents and scratches are still there so they still match the condition of the pistol.

I'm pretty sure we need to see them mounted on the pistol, though ;).

No sanding. Wanted to keep that BT,DT look, (Been There, Done That) to match the revolver.
I cleaned the dirt from them and removed some rust that was on the back side. I then applied some aged BLO. After that I applied a mix of brown and black alcohol base stain while the oil was still wet. After a while I wiped them off with a dry paper towel. I need to let them cure for another day or two before I can apply a wax topcoat.

They look really good! Have a lot of character to them and match the overall appearance of the rest of the gun.
