So I had some store credit from a gun I had on consignment that sold and I decided to look for something new to use the money on. I have plenty of 9's and 45's in my handgun collection but I was lacking a .40 and decided that I needed to find one.

Right away my eye caught sight of this HK P2000sk (V2 w/LEM trigger) and I decided to it was what I wanted. The tag said sued but it is in absolutely mint condition with the original case, paperwork and everything that came with the gun new from the factory. It also came with three mags and Meprolight night sights. The sticker price was $849 but I negotiated down to $800 so I felt I got a pretty good deal.

The purchase of the gun came with two free range passes to the shop's indoor range so I decided to use one and try out the gun. The first 50 rounds were less than impressive on paper but by the second box of ammo I was shooting the gun much better and beginning to really enjoy the LEM trigger. After 200 rounds I walked off the range very pleased with my purchase any very impressed with the accuracy and feel of the gun, I think I found a keeper!

You lucked into a good deal on the LE package; extra mag and night sights. Your HK is going to grow on you, It's a great gun. I've carried one for several years and it still makes me :D when I shoot it.

That is a gorgeous HK and awesome carry weapon - congrats!

The more you shoot the LEM trigger, the more you'll like it. Once you master where the reset point is, your double taps will become seriously quick. Congrats again!

The 2000SK is a superb weapon. I have the same gun and from the very first time that I shot mine it made me look good. The LEM trigger is a great one. I have found that wrapping my pinky under the mag floor plate offers a very stable shooting platform. I actually prefer the extended floor plates for this puropse.

Hopefully I can find a factory 357 SIG barrel for mine.

I love my P2000sk 9mm. It has the light (5.5lbs) LEM trigger pull and Meprolight night sights. Mine was actually a LEO package too. I carry it in a Stronghold Phoenix IWB holster (designed by Tim Thurner of TT Gunleather). Btw, flat floor plates are the way to go.

I also thought that flat floorplates were the way to go but as it turned out the finger rest had little to no effect on concealability and I found that it offered a better purchase (slightly angled) for my finger to wrap under the floorplate. I'd recommend trying it both ways.

I just got the regular size P2000 in DA/SA and shot it for the 1st time yesterday. Ejected cases hit me a lot - but on the HK Pro forum, it seems this isn't that uncommon until the recoil spring breaks in.

But, I was impressed with the accuracy. So, I'm sure the SK is a good gun too :)

Hey Shipwreck. The 2000SK is one of those guns that shoots a lot more accurately than one would ever dream of for a gun that size. My first trip to the range with it was one experience that I'll never forget.

Which trigger did you get on your P2000?

DA/SA on it. I considered LEM, but I prefer DA/SA on my carry guns.

While the grip isn't much shorter, I got the gun to have a slightly smaller carry than my 92FS. Honestly, I still prefer my Beretta - but the barrel of the Beretta is also much longer.

I did pretty good with it, and I was very surprised when I shot my carry round - GoldDot JHP. MY first 4 shots of that round all touched, making a square - and I don't have very steady hands (I have mild shakes in my left hand).

I did pretty good at 15 yards too, considering it's got less than a 4" barrel (I always tend to shoot better with longer guns)

I plan to go pick up a holster for it this weekend. I could have gotten it last weekend, but I didn't want to buy it until I had the gun, as I was specifically looking for a P2000 with night sights - and I wanted to make sure I had one in hand first

As for the SK - I prev carried a Glock 26 for 8 years, and then a P99c for about 3 years - I moved up into bigger carry guns, and no longer have those 2. But, if I wanted another sub compact, the P2000 sk and the Beretta PX4sc would be the two I would decide between

I had a PX4sc but I could never get the gun to shoot right for me. I don't do well with many Beretta triggers as much as I like Berettas otherwise such as a 92-Two that I really wanted to love. The issue is with me and not the guns. It was a direct comparison between the PX4sc and my 2000sk (which I had first) that led to me getting rid of the PX4sc. I really wanted to keep it but it just didn't work out. My 2000sk has the LEM trigger which I have really grown to love as is the case with the SIG DAK trigger. With most guns I prefer a traditional DA/SA and if I were to acquire another P2000 (my first one was a rarity and someone offered me a price that I couldn't refuse) it would be DA/SA. For me the LEM works with the 2000sk.

Can someone say more about this gun? (.40 cal.) Pros? Cons? How does it compare to other sub compact .40?

I own one in 9mm and love it. I also have a SA XD9sc and like that gun as well. You'd have to handle and shoot both and then see if you have a preference.

Hey Prof. There is little con that I can say about the gun. Maybe it's a bit on the thick side, but that isn't necessarily true. Capacity with a standard mag is nine, which isn't bad, and I have a spare USP mag (12 or 13 if I recall correctly) which I have for back-up.

I think that the big surprise with this gun was that I had anticipated .40 snappiness and a handful. A buddy of mine who isn't recoil sensitive finds it to be a handful, but to me it was excperionally smooth shooting with what i would consider to be very acceptable recoil more akin to the push of a .45. Muzzle climb semed light as well, and with the LEM trigger double tapping was outstanding. It's really hard to put it into words, but with shooting this gun everything seemed absolutely right. Accuracy at my typical seven to fifteen yard combat ranges was excellent. Like my PPS the 2000sk shoots like a much bigger gun. Ergonomics are quite good, and while some complain about them with HKs I have no issues. I far prefer the 2000sk to a USP Compact that I traded away.I find that my pinky wrapped under the mag floorplate offers a very stable shooting platform.

I think that sometimes a .40 in that small of a gun scares some people off. I realize that recoil is subjective, but this gun really shines in .40. Hopefully I'll eventually have a 357 SIG barrel to see what that is like.

The more I look at that 2000, the more I want one. Very sexy pistol, and I'll be t every bit as functional as the Glock 26/27 series. I just have one HK (a P7) and it's an extraordinary piece of work.

Congrats!
