Pistol Caliber Semi-Auto Carbine

for a trail gun you'll regret having to lug the highpoint along. It's not exactly light, but it is priced competitively enough. Sub2k has my vote for anything you plan to tote long distances on foot in the pistol caliber range. Comes in 9mm flavors and folds up really nice.

mmm...even in the in the quote you used it says it is not a 9mm...nor is the CZ52 a 9mm. ThePPSh41 was only chambered in one caliber, the 7.62X25 and yes, that round will penetrate a kevlar helmet.

pages 3 and 4 have the info...

Reading is fundamental, I know. I had my post corrected before you even pointed it out ;)

I like that X-30R rifle. I already have a M1 carbine. But I don't want to put a lot of rounds through it. It's got a 42xxxx serial number. Something modern like the X-30R would fill my want for a pistol caliber carbine and kill my want for an AR variant too. The pistol looks ridiculous.

I'm thinking of a high-point or kel-tec. Something I thought I would never say is that I'm actually considering a High-Point.

Any chance you might be able to borrow one that somebody has to play with and get the feel of? Like I said, I have a 4095 in .40 S&W, and a 995 in 9mm for my grandson, and I just traded for another 995 that I haven't fired yet. But the 4095 and first 995 have been tons of fun, very accurate, and very reliable. They're all the basic original styles, not the "tacticool" versions with rails & such.

id imagine so. The cx4 is a nice gun but capacity and price really hinder it imho

EDIT: all the better PCCs like the MP5 clones, HK USC, Kriss, PS90, etc are all hardly budget choices

That is why I really like the Mech Tech if the OP already has a Glock. switch out when you want to shoot the carbine and save up for a dedicated lower. The lowers crop up on gunbroker fairly regularly. I like the fact I can use the same mags in both my handgun and carbine, another big plus in my opinion.

the keltec sub 2000 is awesome. a buddy of mine picked up one in .40sw to match his glocks for the zombie shoots

I would love to play with one, but I don't know anyone that owns one. Had a friend at work that had a Kel-Tec (SU 16 I think) but he sold it cause he needed the money worse. He said he loved it.

Not sure that .30 cal is considered a pistol caliber. I like the idea of making my carbine cartridges match my pistol calibers. Probably 9mm. Can't part with my 1911 though.

They are not made anymore but if you can find one at reasonable price you might look at a Ruger Deerfield. It shoots a .44 mag, sort of a 10 22 on steroids. I use mine for deer hunting but pop the scope off it and it has nice sights for close in work. The down side is the price of them seems to be going up lately.

Thanks for all the great info guys! I really did not realize how many carbines there are. I am leaning towards a Hi Point 9mm or a Suomi. Why because of price point and I am one of them guys who likes the less mainstream and odd ball guns. :) Now I know they are heavy guns but that really don't bother me. I carry a lot of heavy guns as it is, but I am a stout guy. If only I had not sold my Ruger Deerfield .44Mag. :banghead: then this wold not be an issue. But I still have the Ruger Redhawk that went with it. But enough of my ramblings thanks again, and if anyone thinks I should look at anything else before I drop the hammer on getting a Hi Point or Suomi feel free to post.

If you already have an AR (the only way to be feasible on price, if looking at a complete rifle the price is out of range), there are uppers in 9mm, .40s&w, 10mm, .45acp, & .50ae. Just some more to point out that didn't make the list.
