I have in the past worked at many diffrent pizza chains and they all have a no firearms policy punishable by termination, I carried any way and I did not care. Some "Private" shops in my area have a ccw policy but fact is most places say no because they will some how be responsable if their employee shoots some one.

Boycotting Pizza Hut won't save this guys job , calling and threatening to boycott MIGHT make the call.

I got a scripted response when I called so they must be getting some calls

The company has no liability if their driver is killed.
If you were running the company, why would you put the company at risk of a very expensive lawsuit, and increased insurance expenses, by letting employees carry guns?
Employees are easily replaced.
Lawyers and civil judgments are expensive.

The condition of employment at almost every corporate job is your agreement that your personal safety must be sacrificed for the good of the company.

That's the rule.
You must have had your head under a rock for the last thirty years if you didn't already know this.

Nothing is going to change unless we demand it in no uncertain terms.

Well I agree with some stuff here, A boycott by 60,000 people will not even dent pizza hut business. Why should they care? In this day in age even if all 60,000 agree to do it after 1 day you might have 30 or so members sticking to it and maybe 1 member after a month. I hadnt had pizza hut in years for no particular reason. What the real issue is once again the U.S. legal system rewarding bad guys for doing bad things.

That is not true. The company's liability in the case of an employee being killed while on the job is well defined and limited by the worker's comp system.

Compare that to the random, undefined, and potentially unlimited liability they face in the civil justice system were an employee to shoot someone while on the job.

The Kabuki in Christiansburg, VA isn't gun-shy, as near as I can tell. Had dinner there, last Friday night. Was OC, and so were my buddies.

A) YOU, by YOUrself, won't be able to do squat. It's numbers. And the outfits assume that for every note or call they get, there's a bunch who didn't write or call. We need numbers, and we need cooperation.

B) Tarring an entire corporation because of the actions of one branch's management is NOT the High Road. If the Bubba's Biscuits franchise in your town posts, you need to do a couple of things...

1) Get contact info for owner/management AND the corporation's contact info.

2) Let THR know about it.

3) Here's the hard part - getting a few hundred folks to e-mail/phone the corporate office, asking why they are no longer welcome in Bubba's Biscuits.

While doing so, you will REFRAIN from saying idiotic stuff like "I don't even live near one," or "I don't like biscuits anyway," or "I'm not a biscuitarian."

thanks for the phone no. neo

i will give them a call to try a express my feelings about this policy..... i do like pizza hut pizza but i could do without it for this infraction ..................

I intend to order many, many, many, many more pizzas from Pizza Hut.

I have just as many doubts that anyone will be home or anyone will ever show up to pick them up.

Boycotts won't do squat. Are you going to stop ordering pizza entirely, or just from Pizza Hut? If you order from somewhere else, you're just supporting a company with the exact same policy.

Has anyone ever tried to bring a wrongful death suit against a company for someone who was killed under the company's no-weapons policy? That is what would change the policy, not some silly boycott.

Senator Zaun is cool

Senator Zaun is cool.

AND....I think I will STOP buying Pizza Hut pizzas. Their policy sucks, so Pizza Hut sucks.

[SORRY: "Sucks" is the biggest word I know! :uhoh: ]

Indeed. I am not aware of any such lawsuit ever having been filed. The first one (or 50) may not be successful. Many plaintiffs tried and failed before certain legal theories like strict liability, etc. became accepted and commonplace legal doctrines.

I think Mancow is propping himself up again. I live near Des Moines and havent heard any story of this guy getting a new job. I think a lot of offers are coming in so it is possible. This guy did everything right in his defense.

I've been boycotting Pizza Hut for years, because it's crappy pizza.

Dominoe's of course isn't even pizza. I get the runs every time I eat it. They've been off-limits even longer than Pizza Hut.

I just had to point out that I am ordering pizza right now and I remembered this thread and the one about Domino's. So I ordered from a local chain even though it cost me $6 extra.

Go Ahead Drop Pizza Hut a Line!

This is Pizza Huts crummy comment form. They force you to describe the date and amount fo your order - assuming you are compaining about a stuffed crust pizza, or a loser delivery person.

I filled mine out and then expained that it was the order I did not make because of their poicy of making their delivery staff the safe target of thugs and druggies even for legit concealed weapon carriers. Kind of like gun free schools and malls being shooting galleries for nut cases.

I do not buy the line that several thousand comments, letter, phone calls will not tighen these guys up. A letter to the editor and state legislator calling for the right of these poor slobs to defend themselves might be interesting.

Get the Corporate Sales guy in the face of the Corporate lawyer if they get enough negative feedback. It is too late to save the guys job - Hope it is true that ManCow's buddy helped him out!

If these people don't even hear about a hicup they have no reason to question their policy.

But for those who think this does not make a difference do'nt bother contacting Pizza Hut, writing to your local paper, rasing a little hell. Please do not tell me that I am off my rocker because I choose to. Makes me feel better, as a minimum.

Less pizza, smaller waist line!

If Pizza Hut fires him, it's all for the better anyways. He can do much better than minimum wage plus tips to make a living.

You might be surprised how much that adds up to. I knew a guy who delivered pizza. He made almost as much delivering pizza 3 nights a week as he did in his regular job.
