I have just turned 21. Since I was about 15, I have thrilled about when I would become old enough to purchase my favorite handgun. I have a large interest in military history and have always looked at the Springfield 1911 Mil-spec as the perfect first handgun for me. The problem is that now I am 21 and these guns seem really tough to get right now. Does anyone know a website/store/anything where I could get a brand new Springfield 1911 Mil-spec parkerized? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Does it have to be a Springfield? Auto Ordnance makes a similar gun that seems to be widely available in the on-line retailers. Just google "1911 .45 parkerized" and see what you come up with. ;)

Great choice on a first 1911. The Springfield mil spec has everything you
need in a hand gun. You may decide to do a few upgrades later. But put
a ten or twenty thousand rounds through it first. Just to break it in. :)

Apparently he didn't like my original PM, OOPS! :neener:

Just because it has the name Springfield doesn't mean much; Springfield isn't the armory, its a private company that has the rights to use the name. Their XD line of guns are imported from croatia, and a lot of the parts for their non custom/trp 1911's come from all over the world.

Colt has their issues too, my 1911 XSE had to be sent in twice to get it running right.

I am surprised that more people do not appreciate the classic american steel 1911 the way I do. Too many people are interested in these high capacity half tupperware toy weapons like glocks. I'm gonna stick with the proven springfield 1911 and carry it on my hip while my Springfield M1 is in my hands.

I definitely appreciate John Moses Browning's creation, and I feel the 1911 is a classic like you have stated; I don't believe I stated otherwise; again that's why I feel you took my message the wrong way.

Just for your information, I don't own a glock, I do not shoot glocks well so I will probably never own one.

Calling a polymer framed gun tupperware toys is very naive.

If you are looking for an all American steel 1911, a GI model from Springfield Armory is not made from american steel, this is a fact.

However, it sounds like you have made up your mind, and that is perfectly fine.

OK
first off
"Springfeild Armory"
is a IMPORT company, NOT a production company, they assemble their 1911's

What you need to decide is WHAT you
a 1911
a A1
some thing else, beaver tale,
better safety
what?

OH the only SA you will find, are from WWI, as by WWII they had moved on to the 1911A1
