Plinking gun.....that's not a 22

“Plinking” to me is any non-competitive or non-hunting shooting. I “plink” at an indoor range with .22 and .38 handguns, trying to shoot the smallest groups possible, one handed, bullseye style. It’s hard, requires focus and concentration and it’s my form of meditation; I find it very relaxing. So a “plinking” handgun to me is a superbly accurate handgun. There are many out there, but most are not cheap. Even if you are hiking outdoors and shooting at targets of opportunity, if you aren’t hitting what you are shooting at, how is that fun?

Shooting really well (accurately) with a .22 or .38 is always challenging, never boring. Otherwise you are just making noise.

Another option is to find a local re-loader to get a *deposit* on your empties with and buy his reloads. Try to find someone that either competes, at least, on an amateur level or supplies competitors.

I would not recommend buying someone else's reloads. No way to know their quality controls and if you get a squib or worse, no real recourse. For the general shooting public, please buy commercial or reload your own.

That's why I say to go with a competitor or one who already supplies competitors.

I know a reloader up Reno and two in Phoenix that I'd shoot in anything that I have that's applicable.

Obviously, I'm not talking about every joe-s**t-the-rag-man with ziplock bags on his table.

With two pages of comments, I'm sure several have noted - but, why not repeat - sounds like you need a 9mm or .38.

There are few hand gunning pleasures greater for me than my wadcutter guns either in semi-auto or revolver.

Then too, the price can drop dramatically with a low-tech reloading outfit if you shoot enough.

I don't reload but I have a SA revolver, and shoot re-man .38Spec..really inexpensive and since it's a gate loader, takes a while to shoot and reload..I don't mind that at all and it makes ammo last longer..With my Glock 17 and 4 magazines(one a 33r)..ammo goes really fast..

Wow, great idea..my local range does a lot of reloads..I'll ask 'em....
