A police visit to a West Nashville hotel room culminated in a shootout between suspects and police officers, leaving one man shot and two others arrested.

Metro Police spokesman Don Aaron said that authorities were called to the Best Western hotel off of O'Brien Avenue near I-40 East to investigate reports of a woman held against her will. Upon entering a hotel room, police found two women and drugs inside. Two men then entered the room and shot at the officers. Authorites returned fire, shooting one suspect.

The injured man has been taken to Vanderbilt Medical Center, and was reported to be alert after the incident. No officers were injured during the gunfight.

Interesting choice of words

"Police" entered the room, 2 men shot at "officers" and "authorities" returned fire. Dang, that must have been a crowded room. I guess the journalist wanted to avoid using the same word again and again, but we have to ask about hidden meanings. Opening my conspiracy notebook, I see this as a plot to tell the citizens that authorities shoot people. Don't lip off at the driving examiner, he is in uniform (in WA state, at least).

This happened 9/10ths of a mile from my apartment, about halfway between here and where Mark works. I was driving home from school and saw all the cops there, so I stopped to see what had happened.

Apparently, the cops responded to see about the woman being held against her will and went to a room on the fourth floor. While they were there, two guys, at least one armed with a shotgun, came out and fired at the cops. The cops returned fire, wounding one of the guys. The injured suspect was taken to Vanderbilt University Hospital and was conscious and talking when taken into the ambulance. The call went out that there was an officer shot (turned out to be untrue) so every cop in this end of town showed up, including the SWAT team and a police helicopter.

The traffic on I-40 and Charlotte Avenue (parallels I-40) were backed up a considerable distance. From the north side of the hotel, a gunman would have an excellent shot at motorists passing by on the interstate. I imagine traffic was also backed up on Briley Parkway.

He's right, not a lot of crime up in north and east Cobb. Kennesaw's crime rate dropped dramatically after the gun law (the "You must have one" law) and have stayed low ever since.

There was a shooting involving police a few weeks ago near my house (which NEVER happens), and the reporters screwed it up badly, saying the suspect fired 12, 12 gauge shotgun rounds as the police entered the room, and magically had time to reload after missing with every single shot.

In actuality, he pointed a break open shotgun as the police entered the room, and was instantly shot in the stomach and thigh. The police were the only ones to shoot, and they only shot twice.

Kind of kills whatever trust I had for the media, which wasn't all that much.

You trusted the Media????? Those guys are the biggest spin-doctors in the world!!!!!!!!!! Never trust what you read..........or hear on TV.....

I was at the scene, up close and personal. The report is accurate. I talked to MPD Chief Serpas. Stupid BG shot at MPD officers at near point blank range with a sawed-off shot gun. He caught a round in the belly. Still in critical condition. Somehow I do NOT feel any sympathy for his dumb ***.
