Two Jewells from about 15 years ago. Both two-stage. Excellent triggers.

One Chip McCormick, also going back aways. Also two-stage, also excellent.

Plus, I'm about to add some JP trigger springs to a 9mm RRA lower to see if I can civilize that thing on a budget. This one's a single-stage, though it's hard to tell, given its 12+ lb. pull weight. Damn thing is so heavy, I often have to check to see that the safety is in the "fire" position.

After years with the stock Colt trigger, i dropped in an Elftman SE trigger group. The trigger itself is straight and breaks very cleanly at 3.5 lbs.

Here is the resource you want: https://www.thetruthaboutguns.com/2016/04/jeremy-s/ar-15-drop-in-trigger-roundup/ It is a couple of years old now, but it is a very data-based, concrete comparison of the pulls on many of the top aftermarket drop-in AR triggers.

Based, in part, on that article, I went with the TriggerTech. I was not disappointed. Next time I need an AR trigger, I'll get the same thing again.

I have a Timney 3 lb. and voted other because I don’t know what a Cartridge type Timney is. I much prefer single stage triggers.

Cartridge type triggers install as one piece instead of separate parts such as a trigger, disconnector, springs, etc. Thanks for the info.

Despite my lack of desire to give them traffic (due to reasons) I have to say there was a great trigger test over on TTAG several years ago. From that I gathered the Rise Armament RA-140 sounded like a trigger I should try, and after doing so wound up buying 2 more. For an average street price of $100 shipped (and sometime can be had for less; I bought 2 from brownell's for $77.49 each not too long ago) it sure seems like a killer trigger; in fact if I can get a good deal on it again like that I'll probably pick up a couple more for future projects. I can agree with gunny that the PSA EPT is a nice upgrade over mil-spec (I have a couple lowers with it in it) for the $30 price tag, although if you're buying a lower build kit from them it's usually only a $20 mark up.

Thanks for the feedback. FWIW, TTAG had a change in ownership this year and I believe a change in editor.

I don't hunt, shoot varmints or do any precise target work with my AR. I trust and can operate a stock trigger just fine. As long as I can ring 8inch steel at 100 yards or so offhand, I'm good.

Did they un jump the shark from a couple years ago? AKA have they gotten away from the click bait "articles"? Farago's descent into the bizarre really turned me off to even sticking around for the decent articles they sometimes would put out (like the aforementioned trigger test, as well as the brake test they did, which caused me to fall in love with the original Strike Industries J-COMP Type 89.)

Seems to be less clickbait now

I like the LaRue MBT. It’s a great trigger, smooth and crisp. I have mil-spec triggers in a few pistol builds but I plan on replacing those with the MBT now that it is so inexpensive

So far the top three responses are the LaRue MBT, the Geissele family of triggers, and stock AR type triggers. Thanks everyone for the responses so far, I hope this information might help people decide when buying a trigger or perhaps trying a new one.

In addition to USGI triggers (from various sources/LPKs), I have used a handful of Timney cans, a handful of CMC cans, and two handfuls of Jard adjustables - all single stage.

I have a Jard LE trigger in ky defense rifle. I got it free otherwise I would have selected a Geissele SSA trigger. The ALG defense triggers are decent for the money. The Rock River Arms national match 2 stage trigger is also decent for the money. I have worked with all types mentioned above.

I really like the rock river national match triggers. The 2 stage lets you have something descently safe for hunting and carrying yet have that second stage for precision work.

Rugers new trigger, 452, 4.5# 2 stage I assume that means, is pretty good too.

Of course like mentioned before cutting a leg, bobbing the hammer and polishing the sear can make for a pretty descent trigger. When I buy or build an ar the first thing I do is atleast polish the trigger sear, that usually makes them atleast crisp and not gravely.

Started with Geissele SA, son had a SA-E. I switched to the Geissele enhanced. Shooting my precision 22 LR to much made my finger need a better AR Trigger. I really like the absence of adjustment screws and the triggers have been dead reliable. Our reloads don't suffer from weak firing pin hits.

rebernie and tauris 617,
Do you know if Jard still making these AR triggers or are they coming out with a new version? Saw that Brownell's has discontinued them so that is why I did not list them.

I have a Spikes NiB trigger with JP springs and it's ok. I of course have standard triggers I might give trigger jobs to but so far so good. I also like the CMC single stage and the Rock River NM 2 stage. I also have an adjustable single stage Jard 1.5lb trigger I like. I would like to try the LaRue and the CMC 2 stage. I have never shot a Geissele (!) I tend to run single stages for some reason and want a nice two stage so I am seriously thinking I need to order that LaRue MBT.

So many triggers out there I'd certainly like to try just haven't had the opportunity yet.

Geissele.

All my rifles are set up for work or home defense. Unfortunately once I tried one, I had to outfit each rifle with one.

Fortunately they have great deals when they go on sale.

On the one day I was ordering parts for my AR to finally put it together, they did not have a standard PSA mil-spec trigger. So the next trigger was a Del-ton 2 stage for a little bit more in price. Works just fine for my purposes.

Do you like the two stage better than the mil-spec single stage?
