I have always found them to be an interesting concept but have never been willing to take the time to try it. I'm sure there are people here that have done extensive work on them though.

Apart from the lack of a 4473 what is the sales pitch for these things? Browning grip angle and Glock aftermarket parts?

I ask because I got one as a gift in December. It has been sitting in the box, untouched, because a quick scan of parts suppliers seemed to show that the parts to make it whole would be pretty close to the parts to buy a whole Glock.

Just fiinshed one up and shot it last week!
Its a pretty simple build if you have a little bit of sense and a few hand tools. A drill press will help out but not needed.
Its cheaper to buy a new glock if you dont have any parts to start with.
Picture shown is minus trigger.

To me the draw of the whole thing is just to have a project that's somewhat interesting.

The no 4473/lack of the government being able to almost instantly trace it is way down on my list of priorities, but maybe we should all be thinking of that in the long term simply because the good fortune of not having someone like HRC in the White House won't last forever.

Mostly it's just to both learn the pistol really well and to satisfy the creative urge.

That's awesome. So obviously you didn't use a drill press. A hand held drill? A dremel? File?

Any trouble with any of the steps you'd like to share?

I got no replies when I asked several months ago.
I wouldn't expect that a lot of people are building them, especially since buying used Glocks is quite a bit less less expensive than building one of these. Was going to count myself lucky if I managed to get one or two people who'd done it to reply.

Looks way easier than what one would have to deal with when building an 80% AR lower though.

Midway currently has the black ones on sale for $120 and the frame parts kit for $50. Supposedly the frame comes with a jig and all the proper drill bits and end mill.

This.
I'm considering it simply because I have a very nice Glock 17L that I rarely shoot because the Gen 1,2,3 grips just do not fit me well so I do rather poorly with them, the more 1911 like grip angle should help me a lot, I do OK with the Gen 4 Glocks as its just smaller enough to help a lot. I had hopes I could put the 17L slide on my Gen4 22 frame but no go.

I assume the Glock magazines inserts at an angle in the frame sorta like the slanted Ruger .22lr mags fit in the 22/45.

I agree buying a used Glock would be cheaper, but as a "customization" for an existing Glock its not too out of line, as its typically about this much to get a slide milled for a red dot optic or swap in a threaded barrel.

I did use a drill press, but didn't use it to finish milling off the rails, I used a file to finish it off. Used a dremel to clear for the barrel. The rear rails I used a diamond file instead of the supplied mill bit.
Only problem of sorts is after you drill all the holes the pins are very tight and need to be reamed. Base of magwell was relieved just a bit for magpul mags to seat properly.
Had issues with Lone wolf disconnect, switched it out for a stock glock unit and now works great. Shoots great!
About 3-4 hours to complete!
I like the grip angle but its rather fat and square. I have smoothed out a lot of the edges as its kind of an angular design. Grind sand and buff to fit your hand, it is a neat project. Next is a 1911 kit.

Here's the finished pic. 35 slide with a 40 to 9 barrel conversion, suppressor sights.
I bought mine from Brownells. $100 on sale! IMG_20170131_172746_hdr.jpg
