Hi this is my first post on THR. I run a Lee load master for pistol calibers and want to upgrade my powder system. I currently run the auto disk as I have for years but want something not only more accurate but a little nicer quality than the normal Lee stuff. So ideally what I want is the Hornady powder thrower off the lnl ap. But I also want it to bell the case mouth just like my Lee setup with the auto disk and powder through/expanded die. Can I just buy the Hornady thrower and put it on my lee die or do I need a Hornady die and thrower to expand and charge via case activation on the load master. Thanks! Btw found this fourm by recommendation from ultimatereloader.com

have you taken a look at the lee auto drum? I like it. in fact, I sold the powder drop off my dillon 650 and bought an auto drum to put on it.

Yes I have. It may be what I end up going with as I can't find anyone to help me figure out if I can run the aforementioned thrower. I know this is stupid and I love Lee products lord knows I have a ton of there stuff. But I just think that Lee auto drum Looks cheap. The Hornady or rcbs (I'd have that one too) just look to be so much more sturdy and like a precision instrument. I know that the auto drum has lots of good reviews and people backing it. I know what really counts is how accurately throws powder. But I really just want the Hornady or rcbs thrower. Stupid but it is what it is.

I had one on a Lee Classic Turret, but never tried it on the loadmaster before retiring it for a Pro 2000. you would need the measure at 75, and the case activated linkage for 65, and either hornady ptx or rcbs powder expanders-think they are about 10 per caliber and either will work on the hornady setup.
So you are looking at close to 200 depending on how many expanders you need vs 35-40 for the lee drum measure.

Gearhead, the Lee Auto Drum is cheap. For how well it works and for how accurate it measures it is extremely cheap and works fantastic. I have two of them and have loaded 10's of thousands for rounds with them. It is easy to setup and adjust. I chronograph my rounds with a LabRadar. My standard deviation is lower with the Lee Auto Drum compared to me hand weighing the loads on my RCBS balance beam scale.

There are people running the Hornady on the Lee Load Master, but I don't know what they are using to adapt them. Sorry.

You should be able to use the Hornady powder dispenser on the lee. You will need the Powder Die (kit) and PTX (powder through expander) if you want it to operate on ram stroke. The die kit includes the linkage needed to make the dispenser operate with the ram. It will only dump a powder charge when a cartridge operates it.
