M2 Carbine or anyone else:

To SigFan, M2 Carbine, or anyone else:

Regarding M2 Carbine's photo of his target:

Why is it that any of your target hits that are not in the bullseye are off to the left?

I'd like to know because that's the same thing that happens to me. Half are bullseyes, the other half are lung shots off to my left (BG's right).

This same thing happens to me when I'm point shooting in dark around 10 yards and when I'm using the sights during the daytime at 15 yards or 25 yards. What is up with this? This happens to me with all my guns.

What causes that?

Anyone have some input on that? M2Carbine? SigFan? Anyone else?

Does this mean that M2 Carbine and I (wbond) are milking the trigger? Are we trigger milkers, or some other problem?

If he is using proper technique you would not see his laser until its too late. You don't run around with the thing on.

To SigFan:

Please read post #26 and answer its question, if you can.

Thanks.

In regards to the shots going to the left, mine do this sometimes. I realized, for me, that I was gripping too strongly with my support off-hand, and pulling the gun a bit to the left. Basically a variation of the old 'Anticipating Recoil'. When I see a shot go to the left a bit, I am now in the habit of relaxing my support hand a wee bit.

Oh, and while doing shooting at night, don't forget to shoot during the winter with your big gloves on. That can be an eye opener, trying to draw a snubbie from under the parka, forcing your thickly gloved finger into the guard. You can forget about reloading with the big gloves on too.

Oh, and if you wear glasses, take a few shots with out them sometime. Another interesting 'Oh Crap! I never thought about that!' type of exercise.

To Kamicosmos:

I have been using gloves sometimes. I never thought to mention that. It is winter and it is cold here sometimes. Other times I don't need gloves. I've got good dexterity with my gloves and all my guns have bigger trigger guards, except my Firestorm.

That's one advantage of commy guns (Makarov and CZ-83, and others) is that the commies made them to use gloves in cold weather. No problems there. My Ruger SP101 accomodates gloves OK.

I've never tried gloves with my Firestorm. I don't think it'd work very well with gloves. It's a smaller, South American gun. It's a great gun, but I don't think they intended it for extremely cold weather. I'll have to try some gloves with it, but I'm not hopeful.

As for "no glasses": I'm twice legally blind without my glasses. I can even find my glasses in broad daylight unless my face is 12" away from them. Without my glasses I'm helpless. Period. I can't solve that by practice. I cannot see well enough to recognize people or see what is in their hands. I coudn't tell the difference between a BG and nun without my glasses.

"Why is it that any of your target hits that are not in the bullseye are off to the left?"

wbond,
About that target.
I had just swapped the Crimson Trace laser from my S&W Mod 60 J frame to a S&W Mod 36 J frame.
I hadn't finished sighting it in when I shot that target. Since then I've adjusted the bullet strike a little further to the right.

I just hit anywhere depending on the gun sights or how much coffee I had that morning.:D

Polish P-64 at 50 yards.

Sorry missed the question. You may be milking your grip. Meaning all your fingers sqeeze when you pull the trigger not just your trigger finger. This can cause the gun to go the left for right handed shooters and to the right for left handed shooters. If its low left its usually pre-ignition push (ie flinching) When your using your sights you may be correcting for it my maintaining sight alignment. Just my theory based on some errors I have seen. Nearly everyone has had this problem at some time or another.
