Preacherman ..... prisoner's gun attitudes?

I don't think that the correctional staff in jails, prisons,
or correctional centers should allow inmates access to
firearms related material, while these subjects are
incarcerated! And of course, its unlawful for a convicted
felon to possess a firearm.

kinda OT, but still prison related. Which prison house a person federally convicted of a "non-crimes" such as, Drug "crimes", gun "crimes", tax evasion, money laundering, etc. I read a book about a Hash smuggler in the seventies that was sent to USP terra haute, would you say that is common or the exception?

Preacherman:
Have any of these 'professional criminals' hinted at the availability of fully automatic weapons on the 'black market'?

Just how knowledgible about guns/reloading/explosives/fighting styles are these guys? Any with military training?

Scary thought: said professional is researching weapons information on this web site and/or thefiringline right now.

Ala Dan,

Working as a CO in TxDCJ, we as a prison system must let them read everything from bombs to guns to sex. The only thing not allowed are depictions of same sex partners. The offenders fought and won the right to read anything they want but the same sex pictures.

In fact, with the Arizona standoff going on I sent an email to CNN asking why they are not showing highlights of the prison standoff and asked something to the effect of them not wanting to show offenders in a bad light. I am still waiting on a reply but I am not holding my breath.

I know that shunning prisoners after they get out is a bad thing for the recitivism rate. But when they don't clean themselves up, why should we do it for them? When we(TDCJ) release an offender on Monday, and he gets caught breaking into a house on Tuesday evening still wearing the A-frame shirt he took with him, what can we do for him? Nothing, just take him out back at intake and make sure that the AR-15 works.:barf:

I do want to thank Preacherman and company for their insights though. :)
