The nomination is dead for the moment. The outcry against Rivek Murthy was so great that Harry Reid was unable to get enough votes in the Senate to confirm him. The vote was not even taken because it would have been an impressive defeat. If you wrote your senators, good going.

More than likely he didn't want to put vulnerable dems on the spot of going on record on a controversial issue so close to elections. Look out for a lame duck nomination after the elections. Remember they all voted for worse a year ago.
