Price gouging or what.....??

Stachie, I still contend that the concept of "gouging" doesn't actually exist and is instead a term used by those who oppose the free market when the price of a particular commodity goes up rapidly because of some market force.

Since "most" are in your opinion, specifically recognizing that you did not say "all", please recommend a dictionary compiled by people with a right of center political agenda. I'd like to make a comparison and might find the "right" version more palatable.

As previously posted here at THR, I bought the very first 4" Springfield
Armory XD- .45 ACP to land on Alabama soil, in December of '05 for a
measly $360. It came with plastic case, doc's, extra 13 round magazine,
cable lock, and all of the GEAR accessories; plus a "first production run"
cover sheet signed by the sales manager of Springfield Armory.

BTW, this weapon was mistakenly sold too me; as it was intended to
be this area's Springfield Armory reps salesman sample~!:uhoh: ;) :D

It is only price gouging if the consumer is forced to buy it, such as oil or electricity. What this thread is referring to is supply and demand.

Gouging

Not trying to step into a pile of trouble here, but, I think it depends on that sellers cost to buy plus shipping. some of the sellers buy from the MFG, and get much better pricing. Those unfortunate ones who are at the mercy of Distribtors, and their markup and shipping, are going to be higher.
The sweet 3" 9mm is TOO high for me. :cuss:

I would say you did "overpay". I did the same thing when i bought SA loaded black stainless last year at Gander Mountain - i'm a real sucker for impulse buying.
I bought a new XD9 bi-tone yesterday for around $ 500. I did plenty of research before hand and chose to pay $ 50 more than i might at the Reliant gun show this weekend - the folks at the gun store took real interest in helping me select the gun I want and i don't mind paying a little for that kind of service.
With all the information (and mis-information) out there, it's easier than ever to be an educated consumer in regards to quality and service.

End of sermon - LOL - at myself.
