It's a new model, but what condition is it in? How's the rifling? Bluing wear? Where are the original grips?

It's as u see in pic.

Seller asking $350. Think I can get it for $300. I will be using it as a shooter to carry in my jeep during hunting season so finish and original grips really are not that important to me, though the original grips would be nice to have with it. What do ya think ?

I paid $300 plus tax for a new one in 2007 with the wood grips. Ruger has since gone to plastic grips on them and the price has gone up. I think your $300 number is about right; prehaps $325 (if it is in excellent condition).

yup. cause if you don't you won't get to shoot it very much. If you DO reload you now have just about the best gun in the best caliber around. For 300 dollars you stole it.

Is the ammo really expensive ?

I haven't checked prices on 41 mag ammo in a LONG TIME, over 15 years since I owned my last BH in 41 mag, which is why I was wanting this one because my old shot consistent groups out to about 30-40 yards with standard winchester and remington factory ammo. What's the deal ? Think I will check some prices on Midway and Cheaper than Dirt.

I don't know where you are (as it relates to shipping costs), but consider the following sources where I buy loaded 41 mag ammo: GA Arms, Sportsman Guide, Cheaper Than Dirt. I have not even looked at prices at Midway because I suspect they are higher. The least expensive 41 mag ammo is loaded by Bitterroot Valley and HSM at under $30 per box of 50. GA Arms is in the same ball park. There may be some other regional loaders of 41 mag ammo, but I have not purchased from them.

Thanks 22 rimfire

I have bought from Georgia Arms in the past and they do have good ammo at fair prices.

There's more to it than that.

You need to know about condition of the bore, action, lock up, presence or not of rust, etc.

I'd pay $300 for a gun in mint condition re the above.

A rusty gun where the crown is damaged, for example, maybe much less.

$300 is a great price for a NRA good or better condition gun. New retail MSRP is $575 and discounted street price is around $435.

$350 is a fair and reasonable price if condition is very good to excellent considering there is no sales tax involved in a private sale and the pic shows $20 set of Houges added but make sure you get the OEM grips too.

Thanks for the Appalachain Ammo link. First I have heard of them. May have to buy a couple boxes.

If you can get it for $300 and it's in pretty good shape, it's a good buy. They're going for $449 new at a LGS.
My dad bought a used Blackhawk in .45 Colt a while back for $350 OTD, but it looks brand spanking new, and it has the original walnut grips.
