pro mag, pmag, two different things right?

I'd say Pro-Mag is to magazines as Yugo is to automobiles, but that would be unfair to Yugo.

I own 4 promags for my Saiga and all work just fine. My LGS sells them for like $10-$15 I wouldn't pay more than that for one. If you hunting for mags, SG Ammo has actual PMags and com block steel mags for awsome prices.

I always though PMAG was short hand for 'plastic magazine' in general. It's actually a trademark? Learn sumthin' every day.

Just to make it absolutely clear, ProMag is a manufacturer that makes magazines for a great deal of firearms, but generally has a poor reputation. Pmags are Magpul's line of polymer magazines. Magpul has a much more limited selection of models that they make magazines for, but (with a couple of exceptions involving older generations of 20rd AR15 magazines) are very highly regarded.

The AK pmag's are well-respected. The only issue they have is that they don't have metal reinforcements along the feed lips and the rear tab, which are both high-wear areas for AK's. Last I heard, Magpul is working on releasing a new version with metal reinforcements.

I have P Mags and Pro Mags and the main difference is that P Mags work (bought the Pro Mags during the bad times).
Tomorrow my Z Mags will be shipping :)

This! To separate companies, to separate levels of quality.
