Hi every body (voice of the cooky Dr. from the Simpsons)

Okay So here's the deal... I want an H&K PSG-1 sniper's rifle and I am asking you guys how can I get one. I need all the help I can get, anything from links to addresses, emails to phone numbers.

I want one as cheap as I can get it and in operational condition.

PLEASE help me out?

There's a guy on here that scored a PSG-1 at an estate sale for $200. That' s a once in a lifetime deal...don't hold your breath, and you are better off playing the lottery for those odds.

hey, Dr. Nick.

is this a serious question? You do know that they run around $10,000?

As cheap as possible? Do you understand that a good "deal" is still many thousands of dollars?

Every post sounds more trollish, or maybe it's just me. I'd hate for you to think I'm being mean, so I'll quote you here:

I really try not to blow people outta the water here for what they think or say, though sometimes it is necessary to give them a lil what's for, more often I try to understnad their side and find a way to agree with them if not gently nudge them into the right direction.

Your threads never cease to bewilder me.

You could always create an psg-1 "clone" with an Ar-15/Ar-10 Platform. It sounds lame, but I've seen it done with pretty amazing results.

how can you turn a forged ar15/10 receiver into a stamped one? maybe i'm not understanding you.

isn't the psg-1 just a glorified FN-FAL, where "glorified" here means HK-FAL ?

The PSG-1 is a really heavy G3 with a slightly lighter trigger.

Please don't compare it to an FAL, that's heresy.

so is the G3 an FAL? they all look alike to me :)

heh, sorry for the thread detour... if it's not an AR, i get lost pretty fast

Taliv, you are an unpure satan-man for saying that!

:p

the only thing in common with the two rifles is the ammunition.

The performance most people are capable of can be delivered with a $300 bolt gun. Past that, happily buy whatever you can afford.

In reality, the PSG-1 is an investment. I invest my money elsewhere.

seriously, i just did a google internet search for the two, and i don't think i could pick one out of a lineup*. i seriously thought they were the same gun, along with cetmes.

*well, ok, so i recognize the little mp5 twisty-barrel rear sight on one of them

I love the look of a PSG-1.

But from my reading and from posts here of people who actually have working knowledge and experience with the PSG-1, I'll pass-- especially for the money.

The PSG-1 is not what I would call an "Amazingly accurate semi-auto rifle...."

There are semi-autos that will beat its accuracy on any given day. I fully expect the LR-308 I am toying with to beat its accuracy, and I would be upset if it didn't. And that for a small fraction of the cost.

In short, the PSG-1 is an overhyped, overblown, overpriced, underdelivering piece of stamped sheetmetal in my opinion.

And I still think they look cool. Just not $10K worth of cool.

Why cant my luck be like that?

you've shot one?

No, but I have read about it and in it's league of Semi-Auto Military/Police Sniper systems it is one of the best. Again the HK hate drowns that out, oh wait that's right they sold these to civilians too.

The PSG's are cool as are the PSG-90's.

However the ultimate sniper rifle to lust after in my books would be the DSR-1

Go the the HKPro.com forums and read up on building a PSG/MSG clone from a JLD PTR-91 rifle, or have the smith at Vector Arms, HDPS, or IGF make you one.

You'll end up spending no more than $3000 (minus optics) instead of $10K for something that still isn't as accurate as a Stevens 200.

Stop slandering HK, man- your not an OPERATOR!

Actually, you are describing a good percentage of the HK line...hehe...

You're going to have to decide where you are going to compromise at. To go cheap, take a G3 clone, add a $55 grip, and put a large cheek pad on the factory stock. Then, add a bipod and optics, and that's about as cheap as you are going to get.

Otherwise you are going to be in the upper 4-digits.
