I was watching Court TV and show called psychic detective came on and I was reminded of why I dislike these so called psychics.

That one, Sylvia Browne, who comes on Montel makes my blood curdle the way she BS people on things like missing and murdered loved ones. The funny thing is how Montel invites her back time after time even though she has been caught in her lies on several episodes.

I used watch Montel all the time before I went to work hoping to see someone call her out for what she is, but no luck so far. Only a couple of awkward pauses when she gets caught in lie or gets a reading completely wrong.

Anyway to keep this gun related, on Psychic Detective episode, they give a bullet from a crime scene to a supposed psychic who describes the gun that fired it as a "pipe and wood." Then they cut away to a detective who says "Looking back, that pretty much fits a description of a zip gun! She's good!" A zip gun happens to be the gun used to kill the victims. Well I think that description could fit any type of wooden stocked rifle or wooden gripped handgun. It truly is unbelievable how people fall for this "cold reading" nonsense.

I read a rather interesting book that detailed many of the concious and unconcious ways these charlatans get a read on a subject. I cannot for the life of me remember the name right now (it also analyzed many other "alternative" beliefs and practices, like alien abduction and homeopathy).
