I've shot HK-91's and had an SAR-8. Considering a PTR-91 but I'm not familiar with the polymer trigger group they're advertising. Anyone had any experience with this trigger?

It doesn't change the trigger. The trigger is part of the fire control group, or FCG. All PTR-91's have a steel FCG that rides inside the lower receiver. HK91's and, until recently, PTR-91's used steel G3 type lower receivers, with a separate plastic pistol grip. The FCG fits inside the lower and is held in place by the selector switch.

The "polymer trigger group" you refer to is simply an all-plastic lower, with the lower and pistol group molded as a single part. It's often referred to as the "Navy" lower. Some people like the way it looks. That's all. It doesn't affect the way the rifle functions. The trigger will be the same.

FYI, this is what a polymer lower looks like without the FCG installed:

This is the same thing with the FCG:

This is a steel G3 lower w/ FCG:

And this one shows a polymer lower with a clipped semiauto FCG. You can see how the FCG drops into the lower and is help in place by the selector:

All pictures are from RTG Parts, which sells all of the above components.

Thanks for the info and photos. I had envisioned plastic parts within. Thanks for the lessons.
