Well after kicking it around a few months and window shopping I finally ordered (layaway) a CZ-75 Compact chambered in 9mm with 2 mags today.

I was down to a Glock or CZ based on recommendations from probably about 20 people and countless various postings on the net. I tried them both out and Glock's grips are just too freaking big to be comfortable. The CZ just with the factory grips felt like it belonged in my hands.

Added to this is that the CZ was over $100 less then a similar Glock.

Yes this is my first respectable sidearm. My other is a pocket .380 that I hate so much I'm gonna give to the police department on their next gun buyback.

Congrats. I think you made the right choice. I recently traded a slightly used Glock 22 for a brand new CZ 75B 9mm. I haven't regretted the trade for a second. CZ makes good guns and can't be beat for the price.

Hello and congratulations on your shooter. If it seems made just for you and you can shoot it well, that's what counts.

Best.

Congrats on the new pistol purchase:)

Me, I will soon be going to the range - and my "fugly pistol" will be coming with me:neener:

Welcome, sir. You will be happy with your new CZ. You're getting the standard Compact, steel frame safety? BTW, c'mon over to czforum.com sometime.

I'm a man for the function of a gun, and I think that all CZ's absolutely rock! Fantastic ergos, accuracy on a par with guns twice the price (or more), and built like a tank. That they also have sexy lines is just gravy. (Slap some Hakans on them, and they're smokin'!) ;)

Congrats on a great purchase! :)

 Here's my "fugly" CZ . . . not a plastic part on it.

I have a Glock 17 and a Pre-B CZ-75. I much prefer the CZ. CZ is pin-point accurate, the Glock simply is not.

Don't get me wrong, I really like my Glock, but if I had to choose between the 2, the CZ would stay.

You made an excellent choice with the CZ.

I've added a couple since the photo was taken.

While beauty truly is in the eye of the beholder, I cannot understand someone who otherwise likes guns but thinks modern CZs are ugly. I consider them gracefully engineered examples of form following function.

I think CZs are very attractive despite what a grammatically challenged individual says.

Cliff47 - Bought these off eBay from a gent named Pete in Idaho who makes them.

Oil finished and just get better with use. They are however a bit thick for some, I like them a lot though. Like they were made for my hand. This CZ points so well it's remarkable - just raise it and point, most times the sights are already where I want them when I go to get a sight picture. Eerie almost.

Here's his current listing for them . . . also makes grips for many other autoloaders - very nice stuff.

Hello. Despite a post in which little was offered and in what many would consider a rude manner, let's not forget that while we can disagree with opinions expressed, we don't attack the individual.

Thanks in advance and best.

I have an SP01 which is my favorite range gun. A buddy of mine has a 75 Compact and it's a sweet shooter. CZ's don't have the greatest triggers in the world, but everything else about them is first rate. I think you'll like it.

Thanks for the comments and encouragement on my purchase!

It's on layaway though so it won't be for a month or so before I can range report on my horrible pistol shooting skills (I shoot rifle/shotgun just fine, pistols not so much), I'm quite sure the gun will shoot better then the owner in this case :)

beauties and beasts

Beauty must be in the eye of the beholder, because I think those pistols displayed by nonquixote are beauties, and the Glock pistols remind me of a bar of soap that has been left in the shower too long.

Congrats on a great purchase! Welcome to the CZ club... Betcha can't buy just one!
