I put a 2" Taurus nickel plated 5 shot DAO .44spl concealed carry on layaway today. I went in thinking about a more concealable piece than my PT-92. I use an IWB hoslter for it but it's still hard to conceal when I'm sitting. I wanted something that was smaller in size and larger in caliber. I wasn't even thinking I'd buy a gun today until I pulled the trigger. My buddy Timbokhan had a Taurus CIA in .357 mag and he currently has a .357 with a hammer made by same. I thought the trigger pull on the CIA was just plain hard and the +hammer model feels a little better. The DAO pull on the .44spl was actually quite plesant. Something akin in weight to a DA semiauto pull, with much less grit. In fact I think the trigger pull was smoother and more gradual than just about any other DAO I've ever seen. To be honest, I thought it was smoothed out by a smith prior to being put out for sale. Plus with my other .44 mag I can reload for both guns without much more trouble. This particular revolver was on sale since it had been discontinued. I wouldn't have gone for the shiny finish if there was a more subdued option, however I don't think that alone is much of a problem for me since it is a concealed carry piece. The other feature that I wouldn't have paid more for is the ported barrel. I'm sure that it will make practicing less painful, but I realize the added muzzle flash will likely be a problem should I need to fire at night. Are there any loads (preferably commercial) that have low flash powders?
