I hear that Beretta is coming out with a compact version (or subcompact) of the PX4, and maybe with a full size .45. Any confirmations of this, or any idea of when?

It is a PX4 in name only. The standard browning action vs the rotating barrel design makes them Beretta 9000s in new frames.

I have a friend who's a marketing exec at BUSA, he told me ETA was May of this year.

To get the size they wanted the rotating barrel would not work.

That's fine, but that makes it TOTALLY different from the PX4. I think its disingenuous to call it a PX4 compact. The pistol itself is very different.

Personally, I think Beretta has a hard time winning support in anything they do.

The way it is, 1/2 of the people say it's a different gun. If they'd have called it something else the other half would be saying "it looks like a cut down PX4"...

When they made the mini Cougar people complained that it really wasn't a mini, just a cut down Cougar.

People complained for years that Beretta didn't make anything different. So they go out on a limb and make the 9000 (which is an excellent pistol if it fits your hand) and everyone complained that it looked like a tennis shoe.

The Mini PX4 should be a nice gun and I'll buy one.
