Has anyone mounted a red dot sight on a Python? What type of mount did you use? Can you post pictures? Thanks.

I mounted an Ultra Dot on a six-inch Python using a B Square mount: http://www.b-square.com

I don't have any photographs of the gun so configured, but it worked all right. The mount consists of an upper portion and two lower pieces that pass through the vents in the rib. It's rather an ungainly-looking arrangement, but it works, and requires no drilling or tapping.

It might also be worth your while to see what's at http://millettsights.com

I took off the scope because I needed it for another gun, and still haven't got around to replacing it. I like Ultra Dots a lot: I've probably got seven or eight of them on assorted pistols: http://www.ultradotusa.com/ud_home.html

Hey, am I good, or what? I just found this at Gun Broker: http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.asp?Item=31405219 complete with a picture. The mount shown is for a stainless Python or Anaconda, but blue is available, too.

Thank you, Standing Wolf. I have a S&W Model 29 with a B-Square mount and a Leupold Gilmore red dot. Definetely a shooter.

Absolute0, I know what you mean. Putting optics on a Python is like dressing your pretty, 16 year old daughter up for the prom and making her wear bowling shoes. It just doesn't look right. However, my eyesight isn't what it used to be. A definete "Form or Function" question.

When I went to the prom in 1971, bowling was the last thing I wanted to do with my date.
