I don't have any photographs of the gun so configured, but it worked all right. The mount consists of an upper portion and two lower pieces that pass through the vents in the rib. It's rather an ungainly-looking arrangement, but it works, and requires no drilling or tapping.
I took off the scope because I needed it for another gun, and still haven't got around to replacing it. I like Ultra Dots a lot: I've probably got seven or eight of them on assorted pistols: http://www.ultradotusa.com/ud_home.html

Absolute0, I know what you mean. Putting optics on a Python is like dressing your pretty, 16 year old daughter up for the prom and making her wear bowling shoes. It just doesn't look right. However, my eyesight isn't what it used to be. A definete "Form or Function" question.
