i got to shoot a CZ compact the other day and now i want one. Centerfire Systems is near me and they have a few. 2 or 3 are "california compliant" and come with 2 ten round magazines. my question is will these guns operate with a 15 rd mag?

and what else, if anything, is different from regular cz compacts?

As far as I know yes . If they have the loaded chamber indicator then keep it clean. I hear they clog up fast and get messed up. Mine is a regular CZ 75 Compact. MecGar mags makes great magazines for them.

I have a few CZ’s including the 75D compact and P-01 Omega (Also a compact, but with the full length frame adding a bit of weight). I put Cajun Gun Works springs/firing pin/enhanced pins, etc. in all of my CZ-75’s and the trigger pulls in DA and SA are fantastic across the board.

From top; CZ-75 Compact, CZ-75 P-01 Omega and a CZ 2075 RAMI, all 9mm:

The “Ca compliant” stuff only means we can buy them here in Ca because the guns met the Ca DOJ requirements for “safety” (HA!) and have 10 round mags. In free states, it only means you will have to buy larger capacity magazines to take advantage of the double stack design.

The standard round count in the magazine is 15, Gun Mag Warehouse usually has these Mec Gar’s in stock. These magazines have been first rate for me since day one.

The CZ-75 design fits my mid-sized hands like they designed them for me. Even with a long-ish DA trigger reach with some models, like on the CZ- 97 .45 ACP, I shoot them all really well.

The points of the CZ that may become a weakness are the trigger return spring, which can wear and break over after lots of use. Replacement isn’t difficult, and CZ competition shooters often have a spare spring in a range kit since they shoot so often. The firing pin retaining roll pin is another part that can get dinged with a lot of dry firing. A solid replacement pin from Cajun is only a few bucks and just takes a pin punch and small hammer to drive out/drive in for a permanent fix.

If you buy one, I think you will like it. If you do the basic Cajun Gun Works stuff like I have done to mine, I think you will love it. :D

Stay safe.

You may want to do a bit of comparison shopping before you buy. It's been my experience that the state compliant models always run a little more pricewise than the non compliant models. Not much, but it chaps butt to no end to think about having to pay more for less capacity....and then go buy regular capacity mags!

As the above folks have stated, the CZ 75 pistols are excellent. Add in some Cajun gunworks parts and they are superb.
My PCR with a few CG parts added, (mostly to remove the 7 lawyers jammed into it) is and has been stone cold reliable, more accurate than I am and a comfortable pistol to shoot and for daily carry. Magazines all made by Mec-Gar are universally well made and trouble free.
I use a 14 round flush base mag for carry with a standard 15 round (rubber base) or 16 round flush base for spare mag.
Modifications are, replacement of firing pin retaining pin, CG spring kit, CG barrel bushing, Tritium nite sights and G10 grips.
6 months ago I had CG machine the slide to fit a Holosun red dot sight. A concession for old eyes and well worth the effort and expense.
This pistol is the end result of 23 years of concealed carry with at least 5 different pistols or revolvers.View attachment 1166998 IMG_1690.JPG

My first one was actually a CZ 82. It was so bad I bought six more. (C&R day's, dirt cheap). Really the first modern one was a CZ P-01 I still carry. As has been stated the CZ 75b and the compacts that follow will take the any of that series magazines. I have two of the 10 rounders that were shipped with my 75D by mistake. I complained to the dealer who got two 14 round ones from CZ free. Enjoy yours the CZ's are my favorites. IMG_3403.JPG IMG_3406.JPG

I’ve wanted a CZ configuration that I don’t think exists. The compact fits my hand better than anything else I’ve ever picked up. What I want is a full sized slide and barrel on a compact frame. You get the easier to conceal compact frame and the better ballistic performance, longer iron sight radius, less blast, less flip of a full sized gun. You can even use the longer magazines for your spare or range use.

I don’t think there is one of those either, that could be cool. Maybe called something like a CZ-75Y (longer slide, shorter frame) rather than an X (shorter slide, longer frame) that Glock uses.

Stay safe.

It doesn't.
CZ did make a semi compact for 2 years, full sized frame and compact slide.
I've got one, turned it SAO, it's a sweet pistol.

A call to CZ Custom in AZ would likely having you enjoying your new CZ.

I have a couple of PCR's. Excellent guns. If you need to buy magazines I have attached a link.

Beautiful grips

So far, my compacts have run well with full-sized magazines.
My PCR (since sold, unfortunately) worked with 16-round 75 mags, my P10S seems to work with P10C mags, and probably the P10F.
And like some others, the compacts grips fit me like nothing else. Better than the full-sized ones.
I really want something like a PCR with a full-length slide, or my P10S grip with the C slide.

Mostly, my one complaint is that it's so far been impossible to find grip sleeves. Just a little support for the pinky and aesthetics of using a longer magazine.
