When i take the slide off my glock the firing pin sometimes is sticking out of the breechface. Is it best to push the firing pin back flush with the breechface before putting the slide back on?Thank you

It will get into the proper position when you cycle/rack the slide. No biggy, the striker pin block sometimes wedges it in the forward position.

... and to add, I'll hook the pin with my fingernail and pull it back all the way a few times while blowing some air in the channel just to get rid of any junk that might have lodged in there. Shaved brass from the firing pin can accumulate.

The firing pin is easy enough to remove, check and clean. It should be dirt, oil and debris FREE.

Might be perfect, but primers and residue aren't. Doesn't hurt anything to open it up once a year and clean it out.....
