I bought a box of S & B ammo for the first time at a gun show. I opened it and noticed the bullets have a silvery finish on the outside. What is this finish? Obviously not brass or copper. It's not steel jacket is it?

The S&B 9mm 115g stuff I have is jacketed in a brass colored metal. Good stuff, hi pressure, but the primers were a little hard. Glocks love the stuff, but my Kahr sometimes failed to ignite the primer. It was cheap!

Silver bullets, right? I'll go back and look again if you're talking cases.

I suppose they load some of these in their own ammo.

I've probably shot about 60k rounds of S+B 9mm in 5 guns with no ammo problems. It's all I shoot now in 9mm.
I haven't seen any silver bullets from them. I understand that ammo was devloped specifically for hunting were wolves and it's not sold much in the U.S.

I will no longer buy any S & B ammo. In testing some recent ammo of caliber 7.52x25 it was loaded so hot it blew primers in a variety of military handguns we used as test pieces. Some of the military handguns were brand new and of the highest quality.
I no longer trust this company and will not use their ammo.

What pistols were you shooting the 7.62x25 S&B in?
It's been my contention that the new S&B 7.62x25 is too hot for anything but a CZ-52 pistol in good condition.
That stuff is hotter than anything on the market. It duplicates or exceeds the velocity of the corrosive Czech surplus that was floating around for awhile.

I shoot the 7.62x25 S&B to get the brass to reload for my CZ52 it is hot but I have never seen any sign of bown primmers and no primmer flow.
I load the cases pretty hot as it will not cycle if to light hav eshot 1000's of rds and the gun still looks and functions as new.

I've shot more 9mm S&B ammo than any other ammo. I've probably shot nearly as much 45 S&B ammo as I have anything else. I can't remember a single ammo-related issue I've ever had.
I'd be interested in what BHP9 was using that was 'brand new... of the highest quality' that wasn't a CZ52 or Tokarev. The S&B 7.62x25 is hot ammo, but it is hot ammo. It's a hot round.

The 7.62x25 ammunition made by S&B chronos to the same velocities as the Czech surplus ammo (around 1,450fps). That doesn't seem hot to me. I have 9mm loads going way faster than that.

S&B has recently changed the velocity on their 7.62x25. A few years ago, they were advertising it as around 1500fps. The website has now changed and they advertise it as being 1647fps. It sounds as if you may have numbers for the older loading.
Also, I'm curious as to where you are getting your velocity numbers for the Czech surplus. I've never seen anyone say that it was under 1500fps before your post. In fact, I've seen it reported several places that it was over 1600fps.
