Question about the Beretta Px4 Storm Hammer

yesterday I was looking at the Px4 full size and, after much digging, found the SAO version. I like the consistent trigger pull. the only problem that i see with it is that the hammer is spurless. To me, this makes no sense in a single action pistol. I want to have one in the chamber with the hammer down and be able to just thumb the hammer down and shoot. The back of the slide is perfectly shaped for this.

My question is, is there a way to buy the spurred hammer of one of the DA/SA versions and put it into the SA version without changing the functionality at all?

If the hammer has no spur you are looking at a DAO (double action only) as there is no reason to have a hammer spur. I don't know if Beretta makes a SAO version of the PX4 as I couldn't see it cataloged anywhere. They do make the "constant action" which is basically a light DAO with shorter trigger travel.

I read somewhere that the Constant was a single action. thats the one i was refering to. thats why it seemed so odd to make it with a spurless hammer.

The constant action trigger is certainly not a single action action, it is similar to Para Ord. LDA trigger, or H&K's LEM, SIG's DAK trigger.

As mentioned above, the Type C "Constant Action" is not what would normally be classified as single action.

The trigger does move the hammer and then releases it.
In some ways it is a hammered version of a striker pistol where the slide does some of the required work, so you don't have re-strike capability.

The information on Wiki is incorrect. The Constant Action is a Double Action in that the trigger performs 2 functions, both cocking and releasing the hammer.

This is Beretta's version of light double action to compete with Sig's DAK and H&K's LEM. Not as heavy as the typical double action of the DA/SA pistols and has less length of trigger pull but its definitely not a Single Action with cocked hammer that the trigger just releases.

I like a manual safety, but I'm not a fan of the "constant action" or the para "LDA" triggers. I suggest going to the local gun store and dry fire all models available. Rack the slide, dry fire again, repeat. That's the only way to get any sort of feel for it short of renting one. I rented the type f once and I loved it. I don't know why I bought this silly glock that I tolerate instead.

I suggest a poll. Leave out any other options as you obviously want a px4 and not what someone else wants you to want. I'm curious to see what others would choose.

I miss my 96 FS that i sold years ago, and I want a px4 to keep it company.
