I am considering getting a Uberti Schofield revolver and was wondering if anyone knew why they are so much more expensive than their Colt replica's?

Because they are much more complicated to make.

The top latch opening, side-plate, & auto ejection adds a whole nother spectrum of parts & parts fitting over and beyond a Colt SAA.

Just got one today, used, at the LGS for $565 in 45 Colt. Gonna play with it tomorrow. :D

another concern would be, availability of off the shelf cartridges. I was just at a Cabela's, they had 8 different 45LC to choose from. Only 1, 45 Schofield.

BUT.. we don't shoot these guns for how much we can save. If we did that, we'd plink with BB guns.

The Uberti is chambered in 45 Colt, not 45 Schofield.
That makes sense, since it's the more popular cartridge.
I only went with the name, that it is suppose to be a Schofield clone.

Ooh. Pics? Please? :)
Played with it. More accurate than I expected, top notch, in fact. The trigger, though fine, isn't quite as nice as I would like. It's still very good, but has a touch of creep.

I like the way it fits my hand, the balance is excellent, and it pivots less in the hand on recoil than SAA's and their clones.

Pics will have to wait for at least a week, I'm out of town.
