I am not sure if I am in the right area for this posting.
I have a question on gun safes in general. I am planning on buying a safe real soon.
My question is on the effects of the temperature and humidity on firearms.
I was talking to a guy I know and he keeps his safe in the garage. He does not have a heater in it (the safe). I have talked to several people that store safes in the same conditions.
When I get my safe, I am trying to figure out where to put it. I definately do not want rusty firearms.
I believe that I am right in assuming that the inside safe temperature/humidity directly relates to the surrounding temperature/humidity where the safe is stored.
I will probably put mine in the house. In that situation, I do not believe that I will need a heater.
If I was going to put in in the garage, or any unheated area, wouldn't I have to have a internal heater to control moisture and temperature in the safe?
Any information would be appreciated.
