Hi All
I have been thinking about getting one of the full size 45Acp Ronin's. Question I have is are the sight dovetails a standard cut or did Springfield use a proprietary cut on them? I am liking the gun but not the sights. I would want to put something like a set of Wilson or Novak Low mounts on it.

Thanks
WB

Looks like I learned something new today. I had no idea that there were so many different cuts. I figured they were standard or proprietary. Guess I will have to call SA and see what they have to say.

Thanks All

The #1 thing I tell prospective 1911 buyers to look at is the sight dovetails to make sure they will accommodate the type of sights you want. Not all 1911 dovetails are the same, and not all options are available for all sight dovetails. The 1911 is not a Glock. Not all 1911 dovetails are the same, even from the same maker.

If you like night sights, the Novak dovetail will have more options, but fewer options for adjustable sights. If you like adjustable sights, the LPA will have more options than the Novak dovetail, but will have fewer night sight options.

There are a lot of "sort of Novak" dovetails out there. A Novak sight may fit fine, or it may require some bit of work to get it to work.

Novak lists who uses their actual sights, and who uses a knock off here https://www.novaksights.com/Content.aspx?PAGE="Sights 101"

My Ronin is a 4 25” 9mm version, so I don’t know if these pics help or not.

Alongside a 5” SA Loaded .45:

I like the two tone Ronin look, it reminds me of the Pachmayr combat guns from decades ago.

Only thing I have done is drop in a Cylinder & Slide 4.5 lb trigger kit into this gun, the stock pull was a touch North of 5.5 lb stock.

Stay safe.

I do know that the small handful of SA's I've had over the years all had Novak sights. Not just Novak cut, but Novak made the sights. Haven't owned one made in the last 10 years or so, though.

To further the point @JTQ made, I wanted an optic plate for a certain Sig 1911 I have. It's a fully adjustable rear target sight and after calling, Sig told me it was LPA cut. So I bought the plate and it wouldn't fit. Called EGW who makes the optic plates, sent a picture of my slide with measurements for the dovetail and was told it must be a proprietary design because they had nonothing on it.

To add insult to injury, I didn't fully loosen the set screw on the sight and sheared about 3 threads off the end when I installed the original rear sight back on.
