Just happened during a club match, the ejector rod, backout and would not allow the cylinder to close. Was caught and not forced closed. The threads do not look damaged and appear in good shape. The question, what is the proper torque/tightening process to following on this 625. I have persons suggest thread lock.... Seeing no signs on it on the threads, this suggestion makes me shudder. I have see certain screws with thread lock on them, like the craine screw. So any information you can provide?

This gun has more than 3,000 rounds in it and still shoots great. Just had a S&W gunsmith checked it out last year, but he did not take this piece appart. Was present during inspection and cleaning.

I tighten them with a drilled wood block clamp in a vice to hold the rod.
Two empty cases in the cylinder.

De-grease everything with solvent, then apply one small drop of BLUE Lock-Tight to the threads and wipe off any excess.

Hand tighten, just tight enough to say it's tight.
Too much and you can twist them off.

That small amount of L-T will insure it stays on, but allow removal if necessary in the future.

The factory very likely uses a torque fixture which we don't have.
