Hiya.

I am about to replace my A1 upper receiver and Forearm on my LR-308.

I am debating whether to do the job myself or send it to DPMS for the work.

From what I can see, I believe that I can do the job fairly easily, but I was wondering if there is anything I am not seeing that may be different from a standard AR-15 upper.

I will need to remove and then re-install the gas block, but it seems that I have a crush pin in it. That should not be an issue.

I'll have to remove and re-install the barrel on the new A3 receiver. From what I can see, this operates essentially just like an AR-15 and can be done with a combo tool and vice block.

The forearm that I'll be installing is the SASS forearm. Again, this seems to be rather straightforward and use the FF tube wrench and torque wrench.

What am I missing here? Has anyone had any experience doing this? Would it just be better to ship it off to DPMS at $60.00 an hour?

Thanks!
