FINALLY getting around to posting pics of my Del-ton/DPMS AR-15 build.

If anyone remembered, I was building with the following specs:

-Upper Receiver with M4 ramps
-M4 Profile Barrel 1:7 twist chrome-lined
-Carbine Gas System
-YHM Specter Low-Profile Gas Block
-YHM Rifle-Length Lightweight Free-Float Railed Forearm
-YHM Flip-Up Sights
-CAR 6 Position Stock
-A2 Flash Hider
-A2 Pistol Grip

The only additional work to be done on the AR-15 is optics. I'll either be going Aimpoint, EOTech, or Ziess Z-Point.

Here's the pics:

In addition, I thought I'd add a picture of my other project. The full-stock AR is a DPMS LR-308 with:

-A2 Stock
-A1 Upper Receiver
-24" Stainless 1:10 Fluted Bull Barrel
-Free-Float Tube Forearm
-DPMS Panther adjustable palmrest grip
-Craptastic Simmons 3x9x50 Scope

This one is still in progress. The additional work to be done to the LR-308 is:

-Magpul PRS Stock
-Harris 9-13 Bipod
-Ziess Conquest 4.5x14-44 Optic
-Barrel Threading
-JP Recoil Eliminator Muzzle Brake
-JP or Giessle Match Trigger

It just takes time :)

Hope you guys enjoy.

Niccccce! Put a quality can on that .308!?!? Eh?! ;)

I've always really liked the look of longer rails on carbines, although it abstracts my judgement... I have a hard time telling how long that barrel is. My RRA Mid-Length has that look to an extent.

What forend grip is that? Looks solid.

MDeViney,

Thanks my friend!

Getting there... you are reading my mind :)

The AR Vertical Forearm grip is an aluminum Falcon Industries one.

Be warned: That grip doesn't tighten down good on some rails. It turns out that it doesn't lock tight on YHM Lightweight Forearms. I was just about to send it back, but then I figured out how to make an Adapter. It now locks up tight as you want.

I saw a Rem 700 in .308 the other day at a local shop that has taken to machining, producing, and selling THEIR OWN cans. The mentioned rifle was a build of the employee's who does the threading and such work. It was on a McMillan stock, had a really nice camo paintjob, including on the scope, and a really nice can. It got me jonesin' pretty bad for a slick .308 sniper rifle... :)

I'm looking at Yankee Hill rails for a build coming up. It'll be a 7" 9mm SBR made from a RRA LAR-9 pistol (properly registered as an SBR before I add the coll. stock). I'm thinking about doing a rail handgaurd a little longer than the 7" barrel, that way I'll have just the can protruding a few inches from the end of the rail, with as much sight radius as possible. It will kind of have the H&K MP5SD look methinks...

I hear ya, MDViney

I think my next AR build will be a SBR AR.

Of course, that will be after I do the SBS build AND finish the LR-308. So I have to pace myself.

Ideally, I'd like to do a .22 rimfire dedicated upper AR as well.

God, I need to sell a kidney on the black market.

Looks good.

How does she shoot?

My del-ton Middy is working like a charm so far. Need to get out this weekend and try another brand of ammo. Trying to find out its likes and dislikes before I buy in bulk.

Sadly, I'm sure yet. I've only put about 10 rounds through the AR as of yet. It was mainly a function test.

It ran like a charm with those shots, and two shots killed two cotton-mouth moccasins on Saturday.

I have yet to put heavier grain bullets through it. I built it to shoot heavy grain bullets, but all I've shot in it were 50 grain Federal Power-shok.

I've actually not shot the LR-308 yet. While some say it doesn't matter, I figured there is no harm in breaking the barrel in. I haven't had time to go through a break-in proceedure so I've not shot it yet.

Besides, I kinda want to get a bit more done before I get a good indication of what I am working with.

Thanks vzenmn.

It's basically a dry well to find any bulk ammo around here. I don't know what the deal is. I usually just order. Aim Surplus has my verification on file.

I accidently ran into that Federal 50 grain Power-Shok at Walmart recently for like $65 for 200 rounds. I primarily bought it just to have something to shoot and I figured I'd use the cases later this year when I start reloading.

That's really my plan on both of these rifles. I am already stocking up on Brass cases in .223 and .308.

Once I find out what grains work and what bullets I want to stockpile, I am simply going to start building my own.

The LR-308 will only ever shoot quality ammo/handloads since I am not considering it a "SHTF" rifle. I got the AR for that role.

I am thinking about getting some of that ammo you linked. I figure it would be worth blowing through and I can reload the cases.

Does anyone have any info pro or con about reloading Privi-Partisan?
