Thanks for the input guys... ordered the AR today.

Now the waiting game...

I spoke with Laura at Del-ton today, and she was very helpful in accomidating my alterations to the basic M4 Kit.

Here's what I decided upon:

M4 Kit

- DPMS 1:7 twist chrome-lined barrel
-M4 Feed Ramps
-Specter Low-profile gas block
-A2 flash hider
-Standard Trigger group
-Standard grip (well, Panther adjustable palmrest, but it will get swapped to the LR-308)
-CAR 6 Position stock
-YHM Lightweight 4 Rail Free Float Tube, Rifle length
-YHM End Cap
-YHM flip-up front sight for Handguard
-YHM flip-up rear sight
-Falcon Industries Aluminum Vertical Grip

As soon as this is in, I'll be building/assembling it on a DPMS stripped lower I have here.

Pics will be incoming ASAP!

I am thinking about a 16" bbl with a rifle length FF handguard as well!

I am very interested in pics of your upper when it arrives.
 
Did they say when it should arive? Been hearing they are a little behind on orders. I ordered my mid length last monday and looking forward to it.
 
The wait is killing me, guys. I'll be putting up pics the day I get the kit in.

As for when...

The lady there... I think Laura was her name (great lady) said she'd try to get mine out pretty quick-- but not to expect it that week.

Tomorrow will be one calendar week-- so we are still doing good.

I think the big delay is on the Middy kits. I think there's a backlog/backorder on those.

Well, I talked to Del-ton today about a related issue and got good news...

The rifle kit went into the shop today and should ship out as early as tomorrow.

Well, that's kinda annoying. I placed an order for a lightweight rifle kit back on 02/06/08 and it's still showing as being on backorder.

I contacted Del-ton about it via email on the 5th of this month to see if maybe it was one of the options I chose that was holding up progress. I still haven't heard anything back from them beyond the opening of an inquiry ticket.

My order status for my middie on Del-Ton's site says nothing about it being on backorder. It just says it is processing and on the bottom of the page it says the order is in the final stages of processing and cannot be changed or canceled. I placed the order on the 3rd.
 
Man... that bites....

I'd call Laura. I don't know if it mattered, but I called to place my order rather than via the website.

I tried to call in my order but no one answered. But to their defense it was around lunch time. It would be nice if they would tell you if a product is back ordered on their site.
 
I do think they have a backlog/backorder on the middy kits... but I'd definitely call them to get a status. I've had no trouble getting though in the 3 times I've called them over the last couple months.

Actually, I think it's got a little more to do with the Magpul CTR stock that I chose. I've heard from a couple of places that Magpul has been backordered on the stock for a while. I was hoping that I could just get them to change it to a standard collapsible stock and get it shipped. We'll see.

Ahhh... that could be.

I went with the 6 Postition M4... I almost did the CTR.

I had to use the Forearm endcap for a larger diameter barrel than I have due to the one that I needed being out of stock.

Just got off the phone with them. All their kits are on a three to four week delay.

I guess I'll just have to learn to be patient.
 
I called about 11:50 am CST but didn't get an answer. I left a message with my contact info, order number, and query.

When I arrived home this evening, I had an email response to the ticket I'd submitted last week. It was the MagPul CTR that was the culprit. They had the other two colors available but no black. Apparently, they've had a backorder in with MagPul for over a month on the black CTRs.

Laura apologized for the delay and offered to help me with changing to a different stock if I so chose. I've replied back and requested the dark earth version. It's gonna look a little funky with the rest of the furniture being black, but that doesn't really bother me much.

Thanks for suggesting I call, John. There's no telling how long this might have dragged on if I hadn't.

FYI, Brownell's has mil-spec CTR stocks in stock. I got mine from there and they are sweet. Very sturdy and tough.
 
If you don't mind telling us, what did that set up cost? Sounds like a good package.

I think I got it done for 975-ish. With shipping, I was just over a grand. I already had the DPMS lower receiver.

Even though I could have done it cheaper, I figured I couldn't have gotten this particular configuration at this good a cost.

I just got good news today. the kit shipped out yesterday, and I was given the UPS tracking number. Looks like its coming in tomorrow!
