Brewer12345, congratulations on your first outing with Black Powder. All of the advice is very good. I recommend that you consider spending a little time with the National Muzzle Loading Rifle Association. You can find them National Muzzle Loading Rifle Association (nmlra.org) here. They also have a presence in Facebook. They are well worth your time. For fixings start with the Log Cabin Shop. They can do everything for you.Log Cabin Shop. Have fun. Do not forget Dixie Gun Works Dixie Gun Works muzzleloading, blackpowder and rare antique gun supplies.

You can buy a whole set of deep sockets from Harbor Freight for the price of some commercial nipple wrenches. All you need is that one socket.

So true! I lived in the high desert ( Sylmar CA) for 20yrs before moving to MA where we are now. From a very dry climate to the East coast!

@arcticap brings up a great point. There are quite a few ways to handle cleaning. About as many as there are shooters darn near. Experiment. The goal is a gun that doesn’t rust, runs the way you want for as long as you want it to. I live in the high desert and what works brilliantly here might fail miserably in Missouri or North Carolina.
