Canada has Quebec, we have Illinois.

If I can get either Lou Malnotti's or Gerodano's to open a restaraunt in St Louis I'd ahve one less thing to miss. We have a couple of Chicago-style hotdog vendors so that is covered.

Is it much more humid in eastern Missouri than in Chicago? I mentioned Missouri as a possibility to my wife and she recalled St. Louis (nice town, we both thought) in August as being muggier than Chicago.

Lib politicians failed in their attempt to make the names and addresses of firearm owner IDs public knowledge and now they are trying a new tactic.

These people do not believe in constitutional rights if those rights go against anything they support.

I'm not leaving because I like being a thorn in their azzez!

Everytime I buy a firearm in my state my name, date of purchase, serial number, caliber, make model and barrel length of the firearm is approved by and reported to the state police.

Is this not the case everywhere? If not, it should be. I don't want criminals buying guns, and I want stolen guns and illegally used guns off the streets.

Just remember that felons are not legally obligated to register their illegally owned firearms, because it would constitute self-incrimination.

I don't understand how you get from here:

Everytime I buy a firearm in my state my name, date of purchase, serial number, caliber, make model and barrel length of the firearm is approved by and reported to the state police.

To here:

Is this not the case everywhere? If not, it should be. I don't want criminals buying guns, and I want stolen guns and illegally used guns off the streets.

How does registration of legally obtained firearms contribute in any way to getting illegally obtained firearms "off the streets?"

Lots of land right across the Mississippi. Just saying what worked for me.
I spent four years in Fulton, going to Westminster College.

Nicer people, better gun laws.

I wouldn't hesitate to move to Missouri (especially Columbia or St. Louis County) if I found a decent IT job there.

Paid registration, means you do not own your guns, the state does, you only rent it from them every time the fee is up. You buy your gun but you are paying hundreds of dollars to keep them from the state. We have this in NYC it is being challenged, I can't see how it can stand Constitutional muster. They don't charge you a yearly fee to paint, write, sing, vote or pray

"Why should you tell the government that you purchased something?"

Everytime I buy a firearm in my state my name, date of purchase, serial number, caliber, make model and barrel length of the firearm is approved by and reported to the state police.

Good gawd, I seriously hope you are kidding or speaking with tongue-in-cheek. First and foremost, not all States record the above info on a firearm purchase. Second, do you for one second think that a prohibited person would go through the legal channels to purchase a gun??? The only impact registration would have is on the law-abiding citizen.

Just out of curiosity, what State are you in???

Ahh, the People's Democratic (Machine) State of Chicago - I mean Illinois! The (alleged) home of our beloved Leader (odd how he never goes there for holidays or vacations). Sorry, getting off track. You mean you didn't know that the Mayor of Chicago is more powerful than the Governor of Illinois? (At least in the Mayor's mind).

Illinois is such a whacked out place that the downstate Democrats are more conservative than the northern IL Republicans.

My wife would move back there (or to CA where the company she works for has its HQ) in a heartbeat. I'm never going back to a place where all the immigrants from corrupt dictatorships feel right at home because Chicago and IL are run just like the places they fled from. Even though some of my very best friends live there. I do believe in fighting the good fight, but every now and then you have to realize that the bad guys have won and you need to find a better place, until such time as those remaining decide an uncertain freedom is better than a comfortable slavery.
