…with my wife this afternoon. A few rounds of .38 Special, a few rounds of .22 LR, then a corn dog and Diet Coke on the way home. Nice way to wind down the week. Targets? Nothing Olympic, no matter.

A granddaughter is swimming the first event at her last high school swim meet tomorrow morning at 8:30, so we gotta roll out early.

I love retirement.

When I first retired 6 yrs ago, whenever I went some place during the day, I felt strange, like I should be back at my desk or in a meeting rather out and around. Took about 3 mos. to disabuse myself of that feeling. Now everyday is Sat. No mondays, vacation is a word no longer in my vocabulary; don't have to wait for it, don't have a need to hurry back. Go'n come anytime.

This coming April 27th will mark 7 years of retirement for me. I, too , forgot what vacation means. My hunting & fishing time has gone up tremendously since then along with trips to my club's rifle & pistol ranges with sporting clays thrown in for good measure. Even hit the rifle & pistol ranges in winter; was planning on it the last couple days but the 5 degree & minus 20 degree wind chill factor made me wait until next week. Might go out tomorrow and change SD cards on several trail cams here and on a friend's property. The nasty winter weather means more gets done in terms of reloading, gun cleaning, and I'm also getting a new CVA inline muzzle loader set up scope wise and that should help keep me busy in the future. I'll never understand how some folks can retire and become so sedentary.

I officially retired last week, and last week I also fully joined my local range so I can shoot there any time I want to. :)

I am getting the hang of being home during the day with no “24-7-365 on call” phone to worry about. But I must say, wearing sweatpants on a Tuesday is awesome!!

Stay safe.

I retired 40 years ago do to injuries. First year was horrible but as I got better I leaned to enjoy every day as much as possible.

As per a shooting date, I met my partner after talking to her on the internet. Our first date was at the range where she agreed to meet me after the State Championship. I saw her and was enamored by her. We went to dinner at my favorite Italian Restaurant and have been together ever since.

She has never picked up a gun and refuses to shoot one but doesn't mind my going to the range whenever I like.

I retired 9 years ago, also due to injuries. I wasn't extremely happy about it, but I won't complain I make the most of what I'm dealt. My wife, when we met had never shot a gun. I took her to the range and she shot my 9mm pistol, the next thing she said was next we can buy that purple gun. It was a Charter Arms Lavender Lady in .38 Special. That is now her favorite gun, and yes, it was the next one we bought. Good days? That's when I get to spend them with her and our son anywhere and at the range especially. I do the best I can to make the best of each day.
