I took the old S&W 659 out to the range today. I bought this firearm new many years ago. It has had around 200 rounds fired through it and has been in my "grab bag" for probably 20 years.

My poor old eyes are not what the need to be, the indoor range was too dark, I need to decorate the front site post.

S&W 659 - 72 Rounds Fired. Magtech 115 FMJ, PMC Bronze 115 FMJ, No failures for firing. One old magazine failed to lock slide back once, but not the next time.

Good shooting. Those 2nd and 3rd Gen S&Ws autos are great pistols.

The 659 is going to be my range gun now. The "grab bag" has a Browning Hi-Power in there as the replacement. Its kind of funny, the replacement gun is an older design, its like I went backwards instead of forward to a polymer firearm. ;-)

My first gun was a 649, it ate anything I fed it and was reasonably accurate.

I never feel in love with the trigger or ergonomics and due to rising concerns about parts availability I sold it off for what I was into it for after many thousand rounds.

It was a very nice pistol though, but I'm much happier with my CZ P01, which is a better fit for me personally.

Carried one for years. While it was a real boat anchor, it worked. what I didn't like is several of our 2nd. gen S&W semi autos getting cracked frames after a relatively low round count. Even as the original owner, S&W would not warranty them due to no availability of parts. Still have mine and a few others. no idea why I keep them except for the sentimental value.

I had one back in the day. It did everything I asked of it and did it well and I just did not like it. Even at the time I could not say why. Eventually, I traded it for a Sig 226 that I loved.
