Dear THR:
What would you chose as your range gun: CZ 75 TS or Glock 34, where Glock 34 is loaded with whatever after market accessories you like to make it perform as per your liking? If you choose Glock 34, please discuss what after market parts if any would you install.
Please share experiences.

Thank you

Never really cared for the CZs; never considered one as a carry weapon either. As great a gun as the 75 TS might be, I would choose the G34 each and every time. Since I carry a Glock, it makes more sense to use the same manual of arms, same grip angle, and same type of trigger action for shooting range recreation.

Switching platforms back and forth can be fun sometimes, but eventually you'll get confused by the nuances between 'em.

My G34 has Dawson Precision sights; a red fiber optic front and an adjustable black serrated rear. It also has a Vanek Super trigger with a pull weight somewhere between 2.5 and 3 lbs. The only downside to the trigger is that on initial shot it can be hard to feel the end of the slack, but after the first shot, working the reset makes it shoot like a dream.

I do like the way CZ75 feels but if the Glock can be customized ... sky is the limit, including frame/slide replacement, which means the pistol can be custom tailored to my shooting needs for optimal accuracy and performance.

Here's one such custom pistol built by Lone Wolf custom shop with aftermarket frame and slide (note 1911 like grip angle) with a host of enhancements. Instead of G34, I would choose the G35 platform so I have the option of shooting 40S&W/.357 Sig/9mm with different barrels whether I needed USPSA major/minor power factor loads or even 9mm major (124 gr jacketed bullets at ~1450 fps) out of 40-9 conversion barrel with thicker chamber/barrel walls - http://cheaperthandirt.com/blog/?p=7139

Right now I can get you into a bare-bones Timberwolf frame pistol with everything, all Lone Wolf parts, for around $700 I think ... we were achieving 100% gas dump. That compensator is really, really effective. Phenomenally effective. The whole idea was that we could develop a system that could dump everything and keep it within 2-inches. If you look at the high speed photograph ... you can see that there is no bounce, that the red dot sight doesn’t move. That gun is going to be fast.

The CZ75 will be more comfortable at the range. The extra weight of the steel frame makes the recoil seem much lighter.

I don't think it's really a valid question -- although I realize you can upgrade the 34 to your heart's content (as part of the response/answer.)

Most responding probably don't understand that the CZ 75 Tactical Sport is a substantially different gun than the standard CZ 75, as it's built primarily for IPSC, is slightly larger, and with greater capacity. It is arguably comparable to the SIG P226 X-Five, and roughly three times more costly than the Glock 34. Like the X-Five line, it's a semi-custom pistol.

(I've had a Glock 34, by the way, and liked it a lot; have a 35, now, but would gladly trade it (or either of them-- maybe both) for a Tactical Sport. I also have a SIG 226 X-Five (in .40) that I would probably trade for a Tactical Sport, as well, as I don't shoot that X-Five nearly as well as I ought to, and I don't think it's the gun -- that particular gun just doesn't work for me.)

If we were talking about full-race Glock 34 that had a lot of custom gunsmithing done to it, with all of the work already done, then the original question would be more valid, and harder to answer so quickly. With a 34 done up that way, the guns would be closer in potential, performance and cost. But knowing what to do to the 34 would be a complex question with a lot of answers, some not as satisfying. And I don't think the 34 would ever feel as good in the hand as the Tactical Sport.

I have both, but my 34 is not "tricked out".

I was going to quit buying any guns at all as of this year, but after holding a used CZ 85, I bought a lightly customized one from CZ USA Custom shop. After shooting it, I immediately ordered a TS, which I really enjoy.

I like the 34 also, but for a range gun, I would choose the CZ if I could only have one.

As for the manual of arms thing, I'm a revolver guy really, and I think those habits are fairly ingrained by now. :)

It's all good.
