I always clean my 22-250 after a trip to the range, starting out with patches with Rem 40x bore cleaner followed by dry patches until little is picked up,then a patch with gun oil followed by dry patches until they come out dry. If the barrel is particularly dirty I also run a copper brush through it while it's wet with the 40X,followed by the above, removing the brush before pulling the rod back through. When I go to the range I run one dry patch through the barrel prior to firing at all. I'm using a carbon rod and always remove the bolt and run rod from chamber end. Is my method fairly well acceptable to the membership? I'm open to all criticism and suggestions. Thank you.

cleaning.

That is a fairly standard regimen, IMHO.
How many shots would be a typical range session for you?
That is way more cleaning than I do to any of my guns, except the muzzleloaders. That is not meant to be a criticism at all...just a difference. I, however, rarely shoot more than 20 rounds out of a particular rifle at a range session; the exception to that is .22rf but, even there it'll be a box of 50 at most. The same is true for pistols - rarely more than a box of ammo.
The upshot is that I don't clean the guns, necessarily, after every range outing aside from a pull through with a bore snake and a shot of oil in the barrel.
If I shot a lot at each session, it'd be different. My reasoning for some of this is that, at a match with a rifle or pistol I am going to be shooting quite a few rounds without any opportunity for cleaning until I am done so I am not going to clean the gun in practice more than that (in a pistol match, that could be 180 rounds; in a HP rifle match, it could be 80 shots.).

Except for across the course matches I clean at least every 20yds.

Handguns i clean when I get home

22 rim fires get cleaned maybe once a year. Although i do push a patch through them every few hundred rounds.

ARs get cleaned when I get home too....

Pete D."How many shots would be a typical range session for you?"

Usually 30 rounds or so. 50 at the very most. I do not compete, just trying to make the best ammo for and get the best accuracy my gun is capable of using my reloads.
