Some asked for Range Report and PIcs whenever I got out to shoot my new Charles Daly Hi Power 9mm. Here it is.
I took it out yesterday for first time. I loaded the mag with 12 rounds. All 12 are viewable in the PIC. Remember that the CD Hi Power has the XS sights that most, I have found ,don't really like. I had no idea whether I would like them or not since I had never used them. Also I fired all 12 rounds from 15 yards or 45 feet. I had no rest. I fired standing with 2 hand hold.I had to fire a couple to see where to hold the sights that are fixed and after that it was easy and I had wonderful results. I shot the first 2 holding at 6 o clock. They hit a little low. I fired 2 more holding more center and a tad right and they were still not quiet there. I then fired the remaining 8 shots with the front sight dead over the bullseye and I got happier with every shot. I could not make out each hole because of the distance and the fact that they were all touching. I did know, however, that they were going in the bullseye because I saw no other holes on the white background and noticed the black hole in the bullseye getting bigger. I was thrilled when I went to the target to pull it. I was in a hurry and was so pleased with the results that I left after the one magazine fired. I have to say that I have never had a handgun fire this accurately from just being bought and shot for the first time. And, contrary to popular opinion, I was more than pleased with the XS Sights and LOVE them. I feel I have been blessed hugely with a nice Hi Power and already wish I had another just like it so you know what is going to happen soon don't you. Thanks Had to edit because I forgot to post the pic. What was I thinking? Here it is: I have edited the photo and you can see a bigger image of the photo here a little lower in the thread on my update post.

I've always been on the fence concerning the Charles Daly HP. But the more I read, the more I lean towards getting one.

Sounds like you made a good buy :D

What is the street price of the CD High Power? The MSRP was almost the same as a new original HP.

About that picture...

Not to criticize, Whitey, but the pic you posted isn't much bigger than the thumbnail. Can you post a bigger version? Thanks!

I have edited the post and the thumbnail at the bottom is alot bigger if you click on it now. Ok guys, the price on mine was $359.00. That is a considerable saving over a Browning Hi Power. When the Daly's first came out I know the price was higher and for most, not enough less to buy over the Browning. Now I think Daly has realized that they marketed it in the wrong bracket and they have come down to a level that it is now taking hold and justifying itself as a good buy for a Hi Power. The fit and finish is wonderful. I would say that this CD HI power is as good in fit and manufacture as a Browning I had a few years back and as good as the ones I have looked at in stores. The machining is superb. I have also got a FEG hi power and the machining is not even in comparison with the new Daly I got. The Daly is tight. No excessive room or slop. The finish is great! I like the high polish look of some of the deep blue Brownings better but when comparing the matte look Brownings to this one, I would say this CD HI Power looks as good as them, and better because the flats on the slide is polished to a sheen in contrast to the rest of the slide and frame. But the matte blue is as good as the matte blue Brownings easy.
I will try to get a bigger picture. My original pic would not load because it was to big so I had to size it to email size to get it to load. I will go to a photo program and see if I can get some bigger pics up. Check back in a little while. I am going to work on them now. By the way, the trigger is great. It is not the typical hi power trigger. It is alot better than the FEG hi power I have that has the mag safety removed and this Daly still has the mag safety in. The trigger is so good (smoothe) and light, that Im not even going to remove the mag safety. Thats how good it is.As far as recoil, I shot the shots on the target in the pic standing with 2 hand hold. No rest, and it handles recoil great, it is easy to get back on target and the XS sights makes it even more easy. I felt like I was shooting a .22 cal pistol it dissapates recoil so well.

sounds great and nice range report i have often wondered about these myself, thanks and i hope you continue to enjoy it. i had a set of the xs sights on my glock 19 and they were really nice but i guess i am just set in my ways because i have to have the three dot nights sights. i do like the xs sights though and i think they are wonderful especially on carry guns.

I don't know if you know this but Charles Daly High Powers are Argentinian made clone guns.

Say what you will about South American products but the Argentine gun companies produce some pretty high quality stuff.

The CD guns are not Argentine made, they're Hungarian made. They're exactly the same as FEGs, just with an American name stamped quite loudly on the side. Allegedly, they're assembled in the US, but they're still FEGs. How do I know? I had a late manufacture FEG that was a dead-ringer for the CDHP, except for the sights and polished flats.

I've had a Hungarian FEG and an Argentine FM, and I will take the FM any day of the week -- just my personal preference.

The FMs certainly aren't pretty -- not nearly as nicely finished as the FEG/CD -- but IME, the FMs are fitted better, and are much closer with regard to FN/Browning's specs.

It's a matter of preference, it really is... but I prefer the FM. YMMV.

cd hp xs sights

I read some where that the way you use those xs sights is at 15 yards you cover your target with your sights like you did, but at 25 yards you use the top of your sights like regular sights.
give it a try and let us know next time.
oh yea thanks for the report just the other day at my local gun store i saw two cd hp and thougt about getting one for $380 then i wonnderd how accurate can they be for $380? well gues ill go back and really check them out today.

My two biggest gripes with the BHP looks like they've been sorted-out in your pistol - sights and safety. Nice.
