Got the new Steyr from CDNN last week. Bought it for the "pointability" factor, and the price, 349.00. Sights are the weird trapezoidal ones where you put the little triangle(front sight) in the trap "box" (back sight). Recoil was much less than my Glock 27, even though their sizes are comparable. 30 rounds of CCI Blazer Brass, 100 rounds of WWB, all FMJ. No failures of any kind. Slide locks back every time on empty mag. Trigger pull consistent every round. At 25 yards, all shots in an eight inch target, shot standing, offhand. At 7 yards, all shots in a two inch circle, standing, offhand. Rapid fire at 7 yards puts all shots in 8 inch diameter pattern. This gun shoots better than I do! My best purchase yet.

Welcome to the steyr club my friend. My advice would be either to snatch up the mags you find at a gun shows that are going for a reasonable price, or just order a hand full of them from CDNN right now, because you will be very hard pressed to find them in most stores. Also if you are thinking about getting a holster for it make sure to get it from a source that will allow you to return it if it doesn't fit. There aren't many good holsters that are made specifically for the Steyr, but it will fit in some. I have a Galco that was made for an S&W Sigma. I went tried about 50 different holsters before I found one that worked (I'm not joking about the number that I tried, I only got away with it because I work at a gun store haha ) But you'll have nothing but fun with it as time goes on.

Welcome, indeed!

You'll find the Steyr Club to be a fantastic resource about your gun - with plenty of info on what holsters to look for, how to deal with possible problems you might encounter (this isn't likely - most of us have nothing but praise for these little-known guns), and just good company. :D

And anyone who isn't familiar with the Steyr...well, you don't know what you're missing. Several years ago I was looking for a new 9mm carry gun, and after trying many different brands and models, fell in love with the Steyr first time I tried it. Now my S9 is a trustworthy companion.

Enjoy!

Welcome! I've had a chance to shoot these Steyr's recently and I liked them -- well except for those sights  If it were me, I'd put a set of normal Trijicon night sights & call it a day ;)

i just traded in my xd 9 for a steyr 40 recently and couldn't be happier. the feel, ergonomics, trigger pull and accuracy are perfect fits for me. i think i am going to pick up a 9 just to have one around. ;)

feel fortunate that you were able to buy from CDNN. they won't ship to Cali. sometimes, i hate this damn state. :fire:

Cannot beat a quality pistol for $350. I had my M40 hard chromed and installed PT night sights on my pistol. The Steyr pistols are everything that Glocks should have been.

I agree and, putting my money where my mouth is, just picked up a Steyr M9-A1 from CDNN. I'm very impressed with the quality and feel, especially for the money...

On another note, where did you get your M40 hard chromed, what was the price and how long did it take?

:)
