Why do people wear camo to the shooting range? On my last range trip there were several people wearing full camo, GI boots, boonie hats etc. Upon closer inspection they were not military, so what in the world was the point behind that?

They like to pretend they are in the special forces or something. When you see an old dude with like a camo shirt on, theres nothing to worry about. But when you get dudes like this(AKA mall ninjas) just make sure they are aware of you because alot of times, the mall ninja types aren't all that bright.

I usually wear black jeans and a button down khaki shirt. Sometimes I wear a plain hat, sometimes a Winchester hat. What does it matter? People's clothing preferences differ as much as gun and caliber.

I wear my desert tan BDU's for all sorts of around the farm work, and to the range. Personally, I woudn't go all camo, the pants look much more sexy with a black t-shirt.

I wear what's comfy. Jeans in the summer around here are too hot, so summer weight BDU type pants are a practical solution. I agree that a complete tactical ensemble is a bit much, but wearing practical gear that's comfortable and protects you is only reasonable. It also happens that I can buy used BDU's in decent condition at the surplus store a lot cheaper than I can buy 5.11's or some of the other tacticool stuff.

Besides, when I duct tape the chicken plates to the camo, it blends in better... :neener:

Walmart brand khaki cargo pants, button up shirt (usually), boonie hat. Business casual except the boonie hat part. Course I usually hit the range at lunch or right after work.

Pitt762x54r, is that by any chance Century Arms' bullpup AK clone?

I see no reason to dress up for a trip to the range..

Won't Go Nude

I won't go nude to the range.

Hot brass and all that.

But srsly, folks.

I just wear whatever I would normally wear to work. Or to putter around the house.

I take off the tie, though, if one happens to be around.

I like to go the extreme opposite route when I go shooting. Usually, I go shooting right after work, so i'm in a dress shirt, dress shoes, and a tie.
I've been repeatedly asked if I was FBI or a detective, which, to me, is quite the compliment considering i'm far from either. :D

Kinda like dressing up as Cowboys and Indians when we were kids. They think they have to dress the part I guess............cityslickers probably.

I used to wear a ghillie suit...

...until someone whizzed on my head!!!

just kidding.

I've worn everything from cut-off jeans and a ratty T-shirt, to dress slacks shirt & tie, to black clerical collar and suit pants.

But I have yet to show up in my cassock & surplice. Now THAT might be over the top!!!

Of course...HE might also help my scores a bit :p

Q

well first i load up my tacticle wheelbarrel (TWB) then choose my cloathing based on the terrain and paint the TWB accordingly

i pretty much only wear jeans and t shirts

though i have been to the range in a suit and tie

I think I might actually pay a dollar for that picture lol

How does someone else's clothes affect you. They have the right to keep and bear arms, just like you. They have the right to wake up in the morning and put on whatever clothes they want, just like you. Why does it matter what someone else wears to the range, or if your great aunt Betsy wears a silly hat?

It does affect me, because those goobers represent the shooting community every time they go out dressed up like something out of a Tom Clancy novel. I don't want the image of gun owners to be a overweight tub of goo who works at Wal-Mart, and dresses up like Rambo to go shoot paper. It kinda helps promote the "Soldier of Fortune" lunatic image that antis love to paint.

Leave Great Aunt Betsy outta this:p

I love the TWB...no joke...I knew a guy who used that for his deer stand. He rolled it in, propped it up on the handlebars, sat in the barrow, and after he shot his deer, used it to roll out the carcass. Great idea... but he looked pretty durn stupid rolling a TWB out to the oats field!!!

I think they wear cammo so folks with nothing better to do, will spend time wondering why they were so attired

I will generally wear jeans, boots, button shirt. I only wear camo when I'm hunting...so none of mine looks mil-type...its more grass and river cane. We're waterfowlers.

I'm even planning to wear a orange vest for trips to the targets. I want others to see me down there. :D

Mark.
