Thanks for the replies guys.. I do not want to build a rifle. I know it might / will cost more but I just want to buy once and be done. I will never sell it, this is going to be my first AR-15. I've shot an RRA elite operator II and I liked it a good bit. My dad has a bushmaster that's not very smooth to shoot. Bad trigger, runs fine but I've always made sure I keep it very clean.
I've seen a report on an RP ELC (1,500 dollar model) shooting 2k rounds in a day with no cleaning and being abused, thrown in a puddle of dirty water and such... I like that.
I used to be pretty active on this forum, mainly as a bolt action guy. I handload .223 and .308 for my R700's... So the AR-15 I may get won't be on a bench shooting paper. I want to take some high round count carbine classes and have a rifle that I can run hard and rely on if needed in a survival situation.
I'm not dead set on the brand but I do like what I have seen, and I like the fact that he will cerakote it if I order a custom one. (I think they're all custom)..
That being said, I'm open to all the higher end AR's. I like what I've heard about Noveske, and I know PWS is solid.. But the ELC seems pretty solid for what I want, accurate enough for me to send my handloads out to 400 or 500 confidently, but able to be run hard with cheap ammo in a class..
Does anyone own an RPC or ELC?
Anyone have a Noveske or PWS, with any comments on what you think of the rifle?
